Actually you are right. I just came back to correct my error.

However, look what we have done with our money compared to other receiptient states.

Good point.

btw the reason I was mistaken is that the last time I looked was way back in 2000 when the government budget was pretty much balanced. Now with our large deficits many more states are receipient states.

Colorado - highest cocaine use

All that talk of MJ being a gateway drug was the goddamned mother fucking shit ass truth!

<-- trying to knock Maryland off its perch

Actually Vermont is a donor state which means it gives more money to the Federal government than it gets back in aid.

So, if the failed states, like those in the deep south, were to give us back the money we have been giving them, things would be even better off in Vermont.

no one retires to vermont.

retirement is by far the biggest driver of donor/contributor states.

I love you, California, you're the greatest state of all.
I love you in the winter, summer, spring and in the fall
I love your fertile valleys; your dear mountains I adore.
I love your grand old ocean and I love her rugged shore.

Of all the things we can criticize Florida for their pedestrian safety doesn't even make the top 100.

Quite true, and some very major negatives left out for Texas as well. And some of the worst flags seem rather ambiguous or irrelevant-I mean animal cruelty is bad but it is almost trivial when compared to some of the others.

As far as CT being the worst to retire to, I call shens on that. We have NO inheritance tax at all spouse to spouse (including gay marriage). Our cost of living is high, public transportation infrastructure either stinks or is nonexistent and medical system could stand some improvement so maybe that's what the tipping factor is. And this winter I imagine most of the seniors have been housebound since before Thanksgiving but this is fluke year.

But I hate your politicians and insanely high tax rates. Hell, they are almost of bad as Connecticut's 🙂

I'd love to see the stats that prove this.

Edit - Not even close. http://icasualties.org/Iraq/ByState.aspx

California wins by a land slide, but they may be taking it per capita? Total number of residents divided by the number of casualties.

Cali would be about 1 casualty in 80,000 residents
Vermont would be about 1 casualty in 30,000 residents

too lazy to runs the numbers on the rest of the country, but it would be possible for VT to be number one if that's how they are doing it.
