Geesh, my state is wall-to-wall Shamu-sapiens and we're only #42. I can't believe there are 41 states fatter than this.

Yeah, I see so many obese people in CT as well. Then I remember that we're one of the leanest states in the union and am shocked at the reality that there are even higher concentrations of obese individuals in other parts of the country.

It also made me sad that the difference between first and last place is only a 1-in-3 versus 1-in-5 obesity rate. :'(
 
I would have put North Carolina at closer to 40%, I think I'm only estimating female. Also, I heard that the CDC, in an effort to reduce obesity rates, changed the criteria so you have to be even fatter to be considered obese.
 
Being from Colorado, I've noticed that obesity rate varies from area to area, and especially by the income level. Any upper middle class areas will sport plenty of fit looking people, but step in poorer neighborhood like Aurora or Commerce City and you can see quite an increase of obese people.
