I just watched the film 'Hackers' ...great film but what are your sentiments on the art of hacking? Do any of you practice it? Have you been a victim? Do tell...😀
 
The film depicts hackers about as accurately as your average lesbian porn movie depicts my love life.

Final rating: the suck
 
Most hackers these days are just Script Kiddies, for whom I have nothing but contempt. They run canned scripts to vanadlize, with no more "art" than someone throwing a rock through a window.

The real hackers are wasting their talent building rocks and crowbars instead of the next Counter-Strike, but I have a little more respect for their skill if not thier work.

No, I've never hacked, I use my 1337 coding skillz for Good instead of Eevil 🙂
 
the movie was pretty funny...as for hacking...for the most part they are little teenage mongrils that need to be castrated and prevented from reproducing

Exactly. There's a big difference between legitimate "white hat" hackers that act as security consultants and the "black hat" hackers that are acting maliciously.

That said, I thought Hackers sucked. Definitely one of the biggest wastes of 90 minutes I ever saw.

I'll be truthful, the move Hackers gave me a deep urging to work with computers. It is what got me into computers a helluva lot more.

No that would be the movie thats supposed to portray kevin mitnicks experience that is more fabrication and fiction than truth I do believe. If you want a REAL hacker movie watch Freedom Downtime from www.2600.com
