OK, a friend has talked me out of my old MSI/T-bird combo, and is paying me enough that I can upgrade my rig a bit.

I am thinking of a dual XP mobo. First of all, is it even worth it? Do many or any games make use of dual processors?

Second, what is a good, stable dual XP mobo? I have loved my MSI turbo R mobo for over a year now. Any dual XP mobos this stable?

If not, or if dual processors isn't worth it, I need a good single XP/DDR board.

For either board, I don't need sound or lan built in. I have all separate cards.

Recommendations?

To take advantage of dual CPUs, you need an operating system and applications that support dual CPUs. Windows XP Pro Edition (not Home Editon) and Linux supports dual cpus. Quake 3 is basically the only game that benefits from dual CPUs. In other games you may actually see a decrease in performance compared to a single CPU. For a continuous flow of dual cpu info go here.

I would suggest getting a Epox mb. I wouldn't suggest a dual rig there is not enough applications that can take advantage of it, As well most games cant.

If you are looking for a kt266a mobo I would suggest the Epox 8KHA+! I have been running that board for some time now... and its been just perfect! Also the newer EP-8K5A2+ kt333 & EP-8K9A2+ kt400 Boards are great!

Well, I stayed with a single processor. Ordered an MSI KT4 Ultra mobo, and an XP 2100+ cpu. 512 megs ddr 333.
I went with MSI because of reviews, and because I've been very pleased with my current MSI board.

Now I need to figure out how much I have left to spend on a video card. 😉

This setup should pretty well spank my current 1.33 Tbird and 512 megs of pc133.
