i feel nitro is okay for beginners too. its not that much more difficult, plus its more fun :D. for beginners you could probably take a look at hpi rs4 3. those are rtr and parts are available cheap at most places for them. you can bash around and hop up or upgrade if you want to race later. if you want to spend a little more, an rs4 ss might be good. if you have a store that carries parts for it, a yokomo gt4 rtr would be a kicka$s beginner car. you'll have to change the motor to being race legal though if you want to race.

otherwise other ones to ceck out for beginner nitro:

ofna ob4- not greatest parts, but cheap, and easy to hop up, plenty fast
try to avoid the 4tec
nitro tc3 rtr- make sure you get 2 speed tranny
id recommend the nitro rs4 rtr the most though. easy to get going, great beginner car.

get a Nitro TC3...(what I have, :) )

Nitro is easy to get into and fun. Its really not that much more complicated than electric. With electric you have to worry about peak charging, matched cells, brushes, etc...bleh (well that is my opinion). Nitro, you just tune the engine and go (but sometimes your engine does not like to start, :) ). Also the clean up is a little more messy with nitro, but that is why they made SimpleGreen, :). Just shoot that on yer car (dont aim for the servo's) and blow dry with a Air Compressor, :).

Tmaxx 2.5 is a great truck but maybe not for someone just getting into it. Tmaxx line of trucks have a huge aftermarket support for parts.
