Your Pre and Post drinking hanG over cures?

z1ggy

I've always heard "eat a bunch of bread before you go out" and "eat greasy foods" the next day, to avoid hangover. I've even heard of drinking a bottle/can of Sprite.

I could use a cure right about now. Yeah, it's Weds and I'm hung over. Don't judge me bitches.

Activated charcoal capsules. But then you won't get drunk.

I don't know what a hang over is. Never had one and one fourth of July I drank a whole 750ml bottle of jack! Sicker than shit, but the next day I was fine. Don't get drunk either. Tipsy a little, but I don't slur my words and act like an ass. I can still maintain my composure.

oh and...... 😎

A handover is when you work shift work and the next guy comes in to relieve you and you spend some time bringing him up to speed on what's going on.

My pre-handover drinking cure was to change jobs so I don't have to work shifts anymore. Pretty simple really. :colbert:

SHUT UP GUYS. I TOLD YOU I Wasn't TOTALLY ALL THERE YET.

Just took 3 aspirin. I gunna die...?

Next day, on really bad ones, French Onion soup with loads of salt. Just the basic crap that comes in a mix, add water boil etc etc. It rehydrates and provides the salt you need. Eat/drink as much of it as you can and then go back to bed for a few hours. You'll wake up good as new.

Pre-hangover cure that works every time, all the time: don't drink. Alcohol is bad; you shouldn't drink.

Incidentally, strawberry Quik will not calm the stomach.

One thing that seems to help is:

2 - aspirin
1 - Vitamin B complex
1 - Vitamin C

The night before, probably shortly before you pass out/go to bed. Probably not the easiest thing to remember if you're uber shit faced, but the nights I've had a bit too much and figure to have a terrible hangover the next day, I take that, and the next day is usually not bad at all.

Granted, sounds like you are in the morning after phase... dunno what to tell you. Induce vomiting?

if I know it's gonna be bad, I set a jar of excederin just inside my front door with a glass of water where I CAN'T miss it. I pop 2-3 upon my return and am usually thankful for that in the morning. the only problem is, you have to make it home that night...

Before going to bed drink about 5 glasses of water, and take some Aleve.

Yes the nsaid mixing with alcohol will destroy your liver, but you won't be hungover in the morning.

I tend to just alternate a glass of water in with each beer. Take some meds before going to sleep. Drink some black coffee when I wake up. To be honest the biggest problem I have now is loss of sleep as it seems alcohol makes it harder for me to sleep now.

I think that at least partly the reason a hangover happens is because your brain adjusts to the alcohol, a downer and compensates for it. Once the alcohol is gone it takes a while for your brain to 'slow down' back to normal. Along those lines I think that's why a lot of people say a drink in the morning helps, bloody Mary, hair of the dog, etc. With that in mind, I've found that a xanax or other type of benzodiazepine with some Gatorade and some ibuprofen / naproxen does wonders in the morning. If you don't have access to a prescription drug like that, valerian root or l-theanine work to some degree as well.

Pre = water, water and more water. When I wake up, it's a couple excedrin, a grease bomb breakfast and I'm ready to go.

Orange juice always seems to do the trick for me. Anything with simple sugars for your body to easily process.

When I was younger, I realized that my best hangover prevention method was TIME. The earlier in the day I started drinking, the less I would drink later in the day. It was most effective when I started drinking around 5pm....and no later than 7pm.

If I started after 9pm, I would be playing catch up and chasing the buzz...then it was trying to finish that last drink or two before last call. In the end, it would be 13 hours after going to bed that I would be back to normal.

2-3 glasss of water and 2-3 Advil were a must prior to going to sleep... My goal was to survive 10:30am without losing it. If I could hold it together by then, I would be alright. NO Orange Juice for breakfast!

Luckily, I'm married with kids and don't have to do that stuff anymore...but I learned how to avoid it by time management and not doing anything stupid. (and I learned it the hard way)
