Upon my next reformat, I was considering partitioning several small (3-5gb) sections for use a Photoshop scratch disks. Will I see any advantage doing it this way over a single primary scratch disk?

Also, I was considering purchasing 2gigs of ram, however I don't know if it will be enough... I frequently work with many large picture files open (75+ @ 2-3mb/picture). I'm considering going 3, or even 4 gigs... And if I were to have a substantial amount of ram, would the use of several scratch disks really be necessary?

Forget a hard drive if you want true speed.
If Gigabyte manage it, they shoul dhave a PCI card which takes DDR and acts like a small HDD (say 2 or 4GB) which basically gives you that much extra space as a a usable HDD< but at RAM speeds.
So you coul get one of these cards, stick in 2GB of cheap PC3200 RAM and have a really fast scratch pad.

Although it may not come to market for a while.
