My personal view on life is pessimistic.
Example: I feel that if you don't expect something then you won't be disappointed if you don't get that. However, if you're a optimist, not getting something that you've always wanted means dissapointment, anger, and lots of other emotions. Expecting little from life means better/suprising outcomes(if you get something) and no disappointment if you don't.
What are your outlooks on,life and feel free to tell us why. :)

I'm an optimist.

I'm pretty sure you'll eventually get the poll to work.

I feel that dissapointment and the emotions that come with being letdown are just a part of life that everyone has to deal with. Even if you are pessimistic, things still bother you and you still end up being disspointed in some way. Why not just hope for the best? Sometimes it happens and sometimes it doesn't. That's just life! :D

Optimistic. Even if thing don't always go my way, I don't let it get me down or bother me. I couldn't imagine going thru life pessimistic.

Pessimistic in the sense that I have more realistic expectations.

Optimism does not mean that you assume and expect that you will get everything you want. It means you think things will be good in the future.

I'm optimistic that things will remain to be good for me. I'm optimistic of that, because I don't expect too much.

If I expected everything, and assumed I wasnt going to get it, THEN I would be pessimistic.

It appears, then, that you're an optimist. You're pessimistic about false idealism, but optimistic about the results when you're realistic with onesself. So you're still looking at good solutions.

Pessimist.

In my own experience people have been egoists, and nothing but egoists...

"Expect ingratitude".

I have been living by this mantra (from Dale Carnegie) for a last several months, and it has been much better. Better than expecting a lot out of your friends, family, etc.

BEFORE:
9 out of 10 folks are grateful to you - your mind is always focussing on the -1- person that didnt thank you, or be grateful to you.

AFTER:
You have no expectations and actually *expect* ingratitude, and so you are now overjoyed that 9 out of 10 folks proved you wrong, and are grateful to you.

Low expectations are the key to pleasant surprises. Go figure.

I wake up every morning excited about the possibilities that the new day will bring. I hop out of bed joyously and rush to meet the wonderful things that this universe offers.

Not.
