Everyone pretty much hates emos. When male, they're severely lacking in heterosexual traits, and act like little girls. When they're girls, they're pathetic, whiney and overly emotional headcases who need to get over themselves and grow up like their peers (same for males, incidentally).

I think it is universally agreed upon that when a strong dictator finally comes to power (such as me), they will be the first to go.

While your assesment of emo is dead on balls accurate, I don't know that I would go as far as putting them first on the list.

1. People who hurt animals
2. People who hurt other people
.
.
.
.... People who hurt themselves.

i'm with you, but won't repressing them just
give them more to whine about?

"Emo" music - the pop-ish variety is typically bad and targeted towards kids, essentially boy bands with guitars (see Fall Out Boy, Blink 182, etc). However there is also quite a bit of quality music that people like to lump into this genre as well (see bands such as Bright Eyes, Cursive, and to an extent Death Cab For Cutie, etc, etc.)

"Emo" style - it's just a phase kids go through nowadays. The fact that you people say you would kill them off is pretty disgusting, seeing how most of them aren't even old enough to drive or vote. They're just teenagers, they're angsty, all teenagers are. They'll either grow out of it or be made fun of as adults.

Also, I don't know anyone who calls those kids "emos" aside from completely out of touch individuals or just massive douchebags.

On top of that, just because a kid has long hair and wears black t-shirts doesn't mean he wants to kill himself. The vast majority of these kids aren't depressed, they just like the style. Just like many of you guys wore plaid shirts and torn jeans in the early 90's. Or had feathered hair and stonewashed jeans in the 80s.

Stop saying you want to kill off people just because of the music they listen to or what they wear. It's absurd, and over the past year comments like that have not only increased on ATOT, they're now being enocouraged by other members. Grow the hell up. I'm sure the kids you want to kill will.

And an edit to state that using the term "emo" to categorize music bothers me. Emo was originally short for emotional, and it somehow got associated with whiny, depressing music, when in fact, most of it is far from it.

I say music is supposed to be emotional. It's supposed to have passion. It's not supposed to be this canned garbage that has been repeatedly sold to us. And, ironically, a lot of the "emo" music people here claim to hate, is anything but emotional. It is just more machine-driven garbage that is meant to do nothing but sell records.

I disagree with calling Blink 182 emo (even though I don't like them), they are more pop-punk and came from a time when Emo was like Elliot, not pop-punk, and branched off into their own thing that had thier own influence. I do agree with much of everything else that was said. People like to scape goat, and people will always be like that...in time people usally grow out of scape goating an entire people, though not always.

I agree - I also don't think Fall Out Boy is "emo" but the majority of ATOT enjoys lumping all of the pop-ish rock crap together into the emo genre, so I figured Blink 182 along those lines as well.
