Seems most of them are covered, but nobody mentioned Awesome Drop! Great and simple app to quickly send files from a PC to your phone through your computer's browser. No cables needed.

Dropbox :D

I use Root Explorer as well.

Awesome Drop isn't anything like Dropbox though. There's no accounts, no programs to install. You can use it quickly and easily from any internet-capable computer with a modern browser.

The browser in Sense branded phones (pretty much all HTC's) is not the stock Android browser AFAIK.

Saying that I still prefer Opera mobile to Dolphin. Dolphin always seem a bit "messy".

Hmm well maybe I figured their browser was stock. My personal phone is the HTC Incredible, for one more day, I hope. Helped my friend set up his HTC Evo last week coming from an iPhone. Only had a Moto Droid for a couple weeks, but don't remember it being different significantly.

Does opera have the page up/down with the volume button option?

I'd still prefer dropbox. If you installed the software then it acts just like Awesome Drop would. You then have the bonus of accessing these files anywhere else other than your home PC with just your login.

They aren't the same though...

Dropbox is mainly cloud storage. Awesome Drop is getting files from any PC to your phone without having to install programs or make/use an account. I'd say it's worth having both on your phone.

I found that soundhound works better than shazam

others I would include:
ASTRO - file explorer

Where's My Droid - in case you ever lose your phone

i agree, soundhound is a bit better than shazam. also, if you have the youtube download prog it will link directly into soundhound and be able to get copies of the songs you ID.

i also use the ones i left in the list, but if you change the "where's my droid" keyword youre doomed lol. its also a pain in the ass if you have kids that know the keyword. mine buzzed my phone the first week i had it constantly, they thought it was funny.

I would say Opera for browsing the web. its GPU hardware accelerated.

also, TASKER, i think this app alone makes android awesome. (its automates tasks, can be scripted to do just about anything you can think of)

Is that the one that can also change things based on GPS position? I heard about that, and it's awesome. You can make it so your phone automatically switches to silent when you're at school, and then changes back when you leave.

i use newsrob for greader integration, it's the only one i've found that reliably downloads articles for offline viewing.

yes , you can not only change things based on gps, but just about anything...

for example in my configs, when i'm on the librarys wifi connection. i have tasker automatically silence the phone. also when i plug in a charger, a menu popups and asks if its a car charger and if so, gps/bluetooth/and screen rotation is enabled. the possibilities are endless.

Download the SwiftKey X Beta as well while it's free. It's really fast and easy to use compared to the stock keyboard.

Whats so good about opera mobile, it never saves the page I was on if I go to another app and go back to mobile, sometimes it might save one page but never my tabs, also you cant click links until you zoom in. Meh... Ill keep playing with it but stock browser still is better

Opera Mobile. Better than Dolphin anything.
Evernote. Note taking.
Amazon app store.
Amazon MP3 and cloud player. (or Google's)
Slacker. With premium,it's awesome. Thinking about paying the ten bucks a month for it. Mind you, I stream music two or three hours at work.
Fede's Music application. Great WP7 music player clone. From the guy that created Launcher Pro.

Those of you using Dolphin, so you never touch native browser now?

nope stock browser sucks.. too bad with it being a Google OS you would think they would make it a Chrome Mobile.

games: Drag racing ( found today freaking cool)
Angry Birds all flavors..

Apps:
if you go Sprint you will not need GoogleVoice as you can link your entire account and it rocks.

GoogleVoiceSearch yes..
Soundhound
Hound..
beautiful widgets one of my faves
Netflix if you have a compatible device..
Redbox
Movies (awesome tied into Rotten Tomatoes and can buy tickets before you get there..)
PCremote (free PC control great for HT PCs )

compare it to swype? i might rip my thumbs off if i had to touch type on my phone again

Swiftkey is all about prediction. Sometimes you type one letter and it already knows what the word will be. It also looks at the entire sentence you've written so far to guess what the next word will be, so often you don't even have to type, you just pick the next word from the list. It gets better at predicting the more you use it.

I find it faster than swype, but then I haven't really learned to master swype anyway, it takes too much practice.

This app have a name? "Fede's Music" doesn't bring in any market results. ;)

It's Alpha. Google and check XDA link.

Dolphin HD is just too slow. I like the desktop agent mode but other than that it's just too slow compared to Opera Mobile and stock. I use stock as main and Opera Mobile as backup.
