What player are you using? What's your experience in terms of performance (cpu/mem usage, load times, etc.)/sound quality?

I'm currently using Winamp 2.81 w/ MAD plugin

any comments on alternative players such as:

Winamp3,
QCD,
Coolplayer,
Apollo,
WMP,
MusicMatch,
RealONE,
etc...

Seems to me with everything I try I always go back to Winamp2. Winamp2 always seems to use only as much cpu/mem as any other player, even the ones raving about being programmed in low level languages, and loads just as fast. Output sounds great (I honestly couldn't hear the difference with and without the MAD plugin), and the interface is certainly the standard (I'm a fan on the MetampMorphosis skin). I never use visualizations so I can't really comment on that.

I use Winamp3 just made sure I didnt allow it to use the CDDB thing or whatever it is. I also use the overdrive2 skin which looks like a steering wheel very cool skin. The rest I use WMP9.

I'm using QCD(w/ the BBX Mercury Skin), on a 2.1GHz P4 w/ 512mb DDR

Sound quality is better than any winamp version i've used and the QCD is loaded with features

CPU: 00 🙂
Mem Usage: ~5MB

JetAudio Basic 5.0 It has perhaps not as many features as some of the other players BUT the audio quality is undenaible, it is simply AMAZING!! And it's FREE!!

jetAudio certainly looks interesting. I'll have to try it out.

One thing I can mention about players like coolplayer: I love it when there's no installation process. Put the .exe somewhere (it's own directory perhaps) and you're set to go.
