Man, that was way back in the first season, wasn't it?
I'm going to pillage this thread. It's already motivated me to dig out my Simpsons DVDs. The site I linked above asserts that seasons 4-6 are arguably the zenith for the series although it's remained more than decent. But 4-6, it maintains, has nothing but classics. I watched a lot of that stuff when it happened back in the early to mid 90s but haven't revisited it on DVD (i.e. haven't watched the sets I bought). Dug 'em out!
In my notes I say to NOT buy the first season, that it's unorganized, has some good (very?) stuff but overall isn't worth bothering with. I never bought season two, either, but do have 3-6.
season 1 episode 4 - There's No Disgrace Like HomeMan, that was way back in the first season, wasn't it?
the actual pilot episode was Some Enchanted Evening. It was so poorly done that they demanded it be redone and therefore it wasn't ready for the premier and Simpsons Roasting on an Open Fire was substituted.I think it was actually the pilot/christmas special that appeared prior to the show being greenlit? It was after Tracey Ulman show and before it became a real series. Or maybe they already has a season order when that was aired.
Anyway: Lisa Needs Braces.
Mr. Burns wants to skin Santa's Little Helper's puppies.
Two Bad Neighbors. Season 7 episode 13. It's when George Bush moves in. I like the scene where Bush and Homer are in the storm sewer and Bush pulls a wire from his watch saying something like, " let me show you what I learned in the CIA." And the scene where Santa's Little Helper chases Bush as he's jogging an Homer says, " At least he'll be barking up the wrong Bush. " LOL
