178 on a real test.. You had to see the look on the guy's face:"Okay, now, we'll open this envelope, and I'll tell you your results and HOLY CRAP!" The guy flipped :laugh:.

I dont put much weight behind them personally. Paper testing intelligence doesnt get to the meat of life intelligence alot of times in my opinion.

I score high everytime I take one, but there are som tings i just dont do my goodest at and othurz peeples r smart than me😛

mine's actually negative....there's an inverse relationship to my proximity to an individual and their intelligence.

That being said the last online one I took was 220. I dont believe it cuz I'm not that smart lol.

EDIT: I was smart enough to avoid the Pay us $20 button though.

think of the user base here, if ignore the idiocy that is inherent on the internet most of the core user base is college age kids, many of which are in very good schools, and people in industry that hold decent positions may of which are admin/management

Most if not all of them are FAR from average

Just because someone posts like a moron on the internet does not mean they are an idiot IRL,

So if you want to believe it or not, many of us are above average
also those of us posting here are "privileged? because we have computers and internet access we represent the minority of the people out there, the majority does not have the access we so and therefore the AT AVG IQ is going to look nothing like the real worlds

i can believe that most of anandtech is above average, what i can't believe is everyone here claiming to have a genius iq.
 
I took that one popular online test and the highest you can get is 160 (I had all correct). You probably took a myspace IQ test :barf;
 
What's wrong with the IQ test that tickle.com offers? I've used it before, and scored fairly well on it.

Never mind... I see that the new one isn't timed. Almost anyone could score 200 on it if they were willing to spend enough time.

Doesn't surprise me. I would think that the average person that is into computers and frequents a computer-related forum is at least slightly above average.

Plus, you have to be a real dumbass to score 100 or less.

So, that means that there are some real dumbasses in this world, but I doubt many of them are posting anywhere on the 'net that would ask or care what their IQ score is.

Anyway, when I was a kid, I scored over 140 on a real test. Through the years here, when someone would put up a link to a test, I've scored anywhere from 138 to slightly over 150.

It's hardly years ago when only a specific type of person would be interested in computers, so I highly doubt that part. Also, the standard deviation is 15, so scoring around 100, give or take a few points, is perfectly normal.

Also, IQ scores don't vary more than a few points, regardless of age, so the thought of increasing and decreasing standard deviations makes the claim even less likely (besides the obvious issue of it being posted on an internet forum).
 
Yeah I read somewhere that only 15% of the population had common sense. I took the tickle one and scored 132. I have been told by other people that I am intelligent, but I don't think it means a whole lot.

Yeah, my old room mate swore that she was tested and her IQ was 175 and I'm thinking "You are a general business major with a 2.0, are you planning on doing anything with that IQ?"
