When I was 17, a 16 year old girl blew a red light and t-boned me, hitting my '90 Grand Am about a foot in front of my door.

I never saw anything and was instantly knocked out. I woke up 3 hours later in the cat-scan machine. Had a headache for about 5 weeks, not fun at all!

Probably around 17 or 18.

Guy was chasing after me with a gun while his passenger was throwing rocks at my car.

I panicked, looked and it looked like I could make it through the intersection so made a split second decision to do so and t-boned some unfourtante chick in a civic.

Thankfully I wasn't going that fast as I was just starting up from a complete stop.

But when I was at that stop is when the driver with the gun started getting out of the car to come towards mine, which in turn made me panic as I had no way of defending myself against a gun.

Once I wrecked the driver quickly hopped back into his car and sped off down the wrong direction of traffic.

Thankfully there were witnesses to all this and stuck around and told the police, so I didn't really have anything happen to me. Even the girl I hit never pressed charges or even made an insurance claim and really seemed understanding and sympathetic to my situation.

Totaled my '89 Beretta I had at the time simply because anything that'd have cost more than $300 was what the car was worth anyway.

But the collision destroyed my radiator, hood, the whole front end really. Thankfully my parents had just gotten a new car recently but were still holding onto there old pos '88 Ford Taurus for some reason and ended up giving it to me.

All this happened because my "friend" (not after that) decided it'd be funny to flip off the people that chased me down (which I had no idea he did until after the fact) as we passed by them on the side of the road in some gravel parking lot, which is where the passenger loaded up on rocks before they caught up with me.

Man that was such a shitty day for me :p

That was around 1997 or 98.

I was rear ended by a F350 in 2005 that screwed up my back pretty good and I'm still feeling that one to this day.

I've never been in an accident as a driver, but I was in one when I was ~4. We got rear ended on the highway and spun off the road.

Not yet, but only been driving for one year at 23.

I had a close call yesterday with a construction/traffic cone though. Someone stuck one way out into my already shrunken lane, and I didn't want to veer too far into the opposing lane, so misjudged the distance. My right mirror nicked the cone. Shoulda veered or slowed down, I fail.

- Went into the ditch when I hit the brakes a little too fast one winter. No damage to the car (the snow must have cushioned it).
- Very lightly ran into someone's rear bumper one day on glare ice. Total damage: license plate-shaped imprint on their rear bumper, slightly dented front license plate for me. We both got out of the cars, I apologized, we surveyed the damage (or lack thereof) and parted ways.

16 - Was rear-ended at a stop sign when a girl slid into me. (two inches of snow and ice on the road).
That was the FIRST accident of the night. 20 minutes later I fish-tailed and took out a mailbox.

I called my Dad and he was like, "What do you mean the 'first' accident wasn't your fault".

:p

I was 17 or 18 coming home from high school. It had just rained a bit so the roads were a bit slick, and I must've been messing with my CD player cause I looked up and there was a red light and the car in front of me was real close. A couple cars in front of me hit the car in front of them, and a few behind me as well. Like 6 cars in total or something. My car was driveable but it ended up being declared totaled (1991 Lumina).

Smacked a deer with my old escort. Got cited for shooting the deer and not letting an officer do it. What a frickin' crock. Not like I was in town or anything.

oh and i forgot about my one motorcycle accident... guy changed lanes from a dead stop while i was going 45, i cut a line down his car from back bumper to front wheel with my pegs, didnt drop the bike and didnt get injured. luckily tho, since i was able to get next to him instead of going over the back bumper. his fault, but still sucked.

I've been in 3...

The first one was 16/17 driving a company truck I ran a red (they were stacked and I was focusing on the farther light and missed the near light). Took out the rear quarter-panel of a car.

The second one I was 20-something on the freeway and looked away for a minute and rear-ended a car that was slowing down to line-up for an off-ramp.

The third I was either late 20's/early 30's and got T-boned turning across traffic. All lanes had stopped for me but some lady in a mini-van came running up the shoulder and I didn't see her past the rest of the stopped traffic.

I got in my first accident when I was 20 or 21. A guy ran a red light and hit the car next to me, which then plowed into my car. My only other accident was not too long ago, when I was 27. A car was stopped in the right lane on a two-lane road. I passed him legally (it was a passing zone), and while I was in the left lane he proceeded to back up and turn into a driveway, which put the front of his car in the left lane. There was nothing for me to do but slow down and hit him (no shoulder, deep ditch next to the car). On a plus side, I have $1,700 sitting in my savings account because of this accident :) (I decided not to fix the cosmetic damage to my vehicle).

Front car in a 3-car chain. Traffic was stop-and-go on a Friday afternoon. I was in the left lane. Two cars were pulled over on the left shoulder because one had rear-ended the other. I went past at about 20 mph. Traffic in front of me slowed, so I slowed. Lady 2 cars back didn't slow and pushed another car into me. When she got out of her car she said "I'm so sorry! I was so busy looking at that other accident that I wasn't watching the road."

25, some a$$hole in his brand new BMW X5 decided to run red lights into my path and got t-boned. Not my fault, but it was a major inconvenience without my car and he got points/fined etc. The plus side is that it confirmed to me that there are always idiots on the road who will do the unexpected. It doesn't make me drive overly cautious but I do have a heightened awareness of every car out there now.

I'm 25 and I haven't had an accident or a ticket yet. I did hit a road cone in an unlit section of road but all I had to do was take off my license plate and hammer it relatively flat again.

1. Think I was 20. I was at a stop light in my Corolla for more than 30 seconds and this dude in a Ranger flew into the back of me doing at least 25MPH. My car got sandwiched with the one in front of me at the light. Hit my head on the wheel and it put me out for a few seconds. When I got out, the driver who caused the crash stumbled out of his car and the first thing he did was ask to use my phone so he could call his girlfriend. I told him he didn't have to hit me to borrow my phone.

2. Was driving through a parking lot at college when a guy in a Ford pickup threw it in reverse and gunned it to back out of his spot. Too bad my car was behind him at the time.

3. Fucked up my parents' station wagon when I hit a patch of black ice and plowed into a guard rail. Not reported, repaired by a guy named Ivan in the garage behind his house. He replaced the front grille on the car and the Toyota symbol was upside-down when we got it back.

4. Exiting a parking lot with poor visibility, I was inching forward into a busy road to try to see oncoming traffic. Was about to pull out when some soccer mom in a van whipped into the lane I was about to enter when there was NO OTHER TRAFFIC ON THE ROAD. I threw it in reverse to get out of her way and tapped the guy behind me. Broke his vanity plate holder, but no other damage and not reported.

Define "accident".

Police reportable with me as the driver? Never in 22 years of driving. Now I'm jinxed, and I'll probably get into an accident today. :(

Once, I was stopped at a stoplight for 15 seconds, light traffic, good daytime weather, and I get rear-ended by a woman driver. Just a scratch.

Once, I was in stop-and-go traffic, good daytime weather, I was stopped for a few seconds, and I get rear-ended by a woman driver. Just a scratch.

Once, I was stopped at a stoplight, and the man in front of me backs up. I lay on the horn, and he bumps me anyway. Just a scratch.

Once, I was backing out of a parking space and hit a concrete pillar. Cost me $1200 to repair my bumper.

The next week, I was parked in my parents driveway, and I wake up to my car alarm going off. My brother backed the SUV into my front bumper. :(
