Your first car accident? How old were you?

21, driving back to my parents' house after I graduated college. Had my car loaded with all my stuff. Driving on the interstate around 10pm, came over a hill, and whoops, there was a car parked sideways. Across the interstate. I tried to get out of the way, but no chance, and slammed into it. Totaled my car, don't know what happened to the other one. (Nobody was hurt; I was fine (other than being nervous every time I drove on a highway at night for like a year), and the other car was empty.)

Second accident was when I was 26, coming off the highway on an exit ramp where there is no merge area at the end. I stopped at the end of the ramp to let a car already on the street go by. The guy in the car behind me decided it would be a better idea not to stop. As it turned out, that was not such a great idea. All I had to do was get my rear bumper replaced, but the entire front end of the other car was smashed in.

So, two accidents, not at fault in either one. Police and ambulance and all that in the first one. No police were involved in the second one, both our cars could still move, so we just got off the ramp, exchanged insurance information, and that was about it. I assume he didn't drive very far with his car looking as it did; I still drove my car around for awhile until his insurance paid up to get the bumper fixed.

16. It was wet and I locked up the brakes on mom's minivan and rearended a car at a stop sign. Funny thing is the guy behind me did the exact same thing and hit me. Had couple more small accidents but nothing since I was 17yo

Think I was either 19-20. Crotch rocket was weaving in between cars during rush hour traffic. Of course my car was the one he pick to lose control and run into.

Have had 4 (non of which were my fault) in the 9-10 years since, if you count the kid running (literally) into the side of my car in the Home Depot parking lot. Could most likely have avoided one of them had I been paying better attention but the rest were pretty much unavoidable.

I was 15, had my learner's permit. Some doctor missed a stop sign and slammed right into the side of the car that I was driving.

I was 16..involved a motorcycle..really fucked me up..had to go to counseling and shit. The guy was alright minus losing his foot.

4 but none were my fault
1) I was 18. A guy coming the opposite direction pulled a U-turn in front of me and I hit him. He claimed he never saw my blue mini-van

2) I was 22 and waiting to turn left at the top of a hill. I was stopped, waiting a good 30seconds to turn when I was suddenly rear-ended. She claimed she never saw my blue '87 Caprice Classic

3) I was turning left when a guy weaving in and out of traffic got behind me - I guess not realising I was almost at a stop to turn and rear-ended me

4) I was turning left at a bank on a rainy day when someone slid into my bumber - just a fender bender - we didn't even call the police

Now that I think about it I got in quite a few accidents with my Caprice. At least it was built like a tank so it took it well. I was also living in the city at the time. I haven't had any accidents in the last 3 years

Hit a deer when I was 18 or so. Well, that is to say that the deer hit me. Anyone with deer in their area knows the feeling of driving along and having a deer charging ahead right next to you.

It hit my driver side, starting up by the front wheel going back to the rear doors. About $1800 in damage but not enough to total the car at least. Still driving it; my first car.

Never been in an accident otherwise. I'm 24.

I've been a passenger in accidents before. I was riding with my grandfather at night once as a kid when we hit a deer. I was with my grandmother when a truck ran a stop sign and collided with us.

As far as being the driver in accidents, I've never had an accident with another vehicle. I have blown out a tire while driving through Pennsylvania to New Jersey, but I kept control of the car and got off the road.

Never had an real accident though I did get a small fender bender but was nothing major. I rear ended a coworker outside of work at low speed. Was pure ice. No damage done exept my bumper cracked a bit, so we just moved on, it was more of a good laugh then anything. Scared the shit out of me though. The feeling of having applied the brakes and the car not even slowing down is scary. Slightly downhill, to make matters worse. Good thing I was being careful (though not enough!).

As a passenger(backseat)... got rear ended by a van who skidded on 20 foot of ice. I believe I was 20 or 21, I don't remember.

Never had one as the driver.

First one as a passenger was when I was about 4 or 5. My Mom had me on her lap in the front seat and my Dad got in an accident. I have a big scar on my forehead above the hairline from it.

I'm 33. No car accidents and no broken bones yet.

As for car accidents, the only time I got in an accident was whe nI was asleep in my appartment and some ass hole nailed my car i nthe parking lot.

i was 17, coming to a green light. i didnt realize it had just turned green so traffic wasnt moving yet, there was a hot redhead walking on the sidewalk so i gawked at her and hit a big ass 4 door land yacht. only gooing 20mph or so, didnt really damage either car. the old guy was from minnesota, got out and talkked to me. asked me if i was watching the redhead and laffed when i said yes. no cops, but it made me change how i drove. then 2 months later i was pissed off, flying thru a pep boys parking lot and slammed into a cherry cutlass that was backing out of a spot. crumpled his rear qp and broke his taillight. had to pay for that one. was in a parking lot tho, so no cops. other than those, ive beenn in other accidents but not while i was driving.

17. Another 17 year old in a 1987 F250 was looking at the Corvette going the other way and failed to notice traffic had stopped. Ran into me at about 30mph and totaled my car.
Another when I was 18; close-packed traffic on a freeway moving at about 35 (guessing) came to a screeching, tire-smoking halt and the college student behind me in a 1987 Porsche 911 was following too close. Didn't hurt my car much but really damaged his car, which he was about to sell.

I will never own a 1987 vehicle. Apparently they're my bad luck year...

I was about... 26. My windshield fogged up very quickly, and I wasn't thinking straight. Pulled off the road to let traffic go around me, but I pulled over a little too far and my passenger door hit a telephone pole. I've never been in an accident with another car when I was driving.
