Your first car accident? How old were you?

I just had my first car accident, and I'm in my 50's (SUV ran a stop sign and mashed both of my doors on the driver's side. Now I have to crawl across from the other side in order to get in. 10-year-old car, I was going to replace it anyway. I'm fine, which is what matters)

I've backed into a pole or two, things like that, but this is my first real accident with actual police.

What was your first accident?

Senior in college - so 20/21. Guy making a left didnt wait for me to pass. Head on collision which totaled my first car

I was...37 I guess? I rear-ended a lady who panic stopped at 50mph in the middle of the road. The cop felt sorry for me and didn't charge me in the accident - I think he would have charged her if he could have. No accidents since.

I crashed my cable truck into a brand spankin new [parked] CLK500 back in 2001. Never reported it, and broke out. I was 26. Does that count?

14. Side swiped a conversion van. $300 in damage to the van, a scrape on my car. Guy was cool though.

I've never been in an accident with another vehicle. Just ended up in a ditch two winters ago during a snow storm. I was going slow enough to where it didn't cause any damage except a small dent that popped right out, but I still had to get pulled out of the ditch.

My first was at 22. Other vehicle was attempting to turn left and failed to yield.

16 or 17 maybe? A girl that was just a year or two older than me made a left hand turn on to the main road that I was driving on. I ended up t-boning her car, I still have no idea what she was doing, must not have been looking. Later I had to show up to traffic court as a witness if she contested the resulting ticket.

Towing a trailer with my tractor on it and had my trailer brakes decide not to work at the worst time...traffic on 202 south of West Chester, PA. I came up over a hill, and everyone was stopped. Nailed the brakes and got almost nothing, so instead of rear-ending everyone, I hit the guard rail instead. Very effective braking

Last time I ever towed with that van...not much damage, but I should've had more stopping power, I was even under the van's towing limits and not going fast....scariest damn thing in a long time.

i was 17, was going to get gas when I backed up into a gas pump. Surprisingly, my step dad was very calm about the whole thing.

I think I was 17. Came around a corner and there was a car stopped in the road. I couldn't stop in time so I swerved to the right and scraped up the right rear of his car a bit.

About 20. Some guy several cars ahead passed out or something, running into the concrete median (we were in the far left lane) causing a 4 car accident. My 1st car was totaled.

My only car accident was in October 2004, I was 19. Accident was my fault and I destroyed my little old Focus. I kind of liked that car and at the time, I was planning on giving it to my mom and getting an old 240sx (never happened).

Haven't had a ticket since Jan. 2005 either.

27, been driving since I was 18. No accidents. Close calls, yes, such as on my way to my senior project presentation - someone decided to back out onto the street without checking for traffic. I almost got lightly rammed on the side of my car.

First fender-bender was not too long after I got my license (at 19 - had no real need to drive until I started college)...somebody rear-ended me when I yielded for oncoming traffic, and he didn't

first 'serious' accident was the following spring: driving down a 5-lane road (2 west, suicide lane, 2 east) in my little Ford Ranger, and somebody cut off a lady in a Chevy Suburban in the eastbound lanes. She swerved to avoid that car, and in the process, the rear wheels of the 'burban lost their grip, so she slid length-wise across the suicide lane and into the two westbound lanes. Right in front of me, of course...all I had time to do was brace myself and think 'oh, sh*t!' The Ranger was toast, but I and the driver of the 'burban walked away with little more than some nasty bruises. She was lucky - rather than hit either driver-side door, I hit the (much stronger) beam between them, and that soaked up most of the impact.

17, got rear-ended coming off the highway. Been hit again since then, but neither has been reported for anything, no real damage.

22, was driving my dad's Buick and wasn't used to its blind spots. Side swiped a minivan when I tried to pull out from a left turn only lane back into traffic.
