My first real computer game and still my favorite was Starcraft. Man, that was back in 1986. I know it's not the era your looking for but I had to chime that game in.

Hmm, One I still have installed on my W2K system from way back is Master Of Magic. I even boot up a the dos image just for it. 😉 and Homm3 as well as The Summoning.

F15 Flight Sim II and F19 Stealth Fighter
King's Quest III and V
Deathtrack
Civlization ( original )
Prince of Persia ( original )
Monkey Island I & II
Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis
Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade
Gods ( the first game i played on VGA with a sound card )

Civ & Civ 2
Romance of the Three Kingdoms 2
Jones in the Fast Lane

those are my absolute favorites, tack on a billion sierra games and some other miscellaneous stuff.

oh, and humans, too. that was a great game.

wait wait...

Unreal and Dark Forces are "Old School"?!

Ugh... I must be from the pre-historic School then.

Curse of the Azure Bonds(BEST OLDSCHOOL GAME), Hillsfar, Pool of Darkness,
all the D&D titles released back then. (BALDUR's GATE SUCKS, they destroyed the series making it real time!!BLEAH!!)

Quake
Duke 3D
Quarantine (real REAL old skool)
Cannon Fodder (another oldie)
Descent
Buried In Time: Journeyman 2

Xcom games(all of them)
Might & Magic 6 & 7
Alien Breed-Tower Assault
Privateer2-The darkening.

🙂

Super old school x-wing... 6 floppies on a 486..... played for hours, and hours, and hours...

I remember playing the original Gold Box (Pool of Radiance, Curse of the Azure Bonds, Pools of Darkness, etc.) series for hours upon hours. I think I went through Pool of Radiance about five times with the same set of characters 😛

No question here... the original System Shock is one of the best games of all time.

if you really want to get old school, then I would say F-14 Tomcat for my Commodore 64. I must have played through that game 20 times.
