Lord of the Rings is probably one of my favorites. This is probably one of my favorites scenes from a sound track and visuals point of view: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i6LGJ7evrAg

Also not really a specific movie, but same style, pretty much anything by Two Steps From Hell.

Avatar has pretty good soundtrack too.

They've done a lot of epic trailer music. I have the Brian Tyler soundtrack for Children of Dune (though I never watched the miniseries). I think Two Steps from Hell (with Brian Tyler) re-worked pieces from that for the trailers of Star Trek 2009 and Star Trek: Into Darkness.

my favorite score is from goodfellas. no other movie can match its sublime perfection - the closest i can think of would be the godfather, star wars and american graffiti.

And, oh shit... How could I forget?

Charade

Twin Peaks Soundtrack (i know , it's a tv show but Angelo Badalamenti is a true genius)

The Crow soundtrack is pretty cool and Lost Highway too.

Lots of the good ones have already been mentioned, but here are some more.

Simple but perfect: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V4kWpi2HnPU

From the Escape From L.A. soundtrack (horrible movie but some good songs): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=53qeiAVjHQU

I tear up every time I hear this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ypoUBGMxT1o

Underrated and forgotten: Dune, Legend

Overall best soundtrack ever, though...The Karate Kid. Both the orchestra and songs always fit and enhance the mood perfectly. After 30 years and dozens of viewings, it still feels fresh and alive.
