hell yes

and after that...most songs by bela fleck and the flecktones, and a number of various loups by keller williams.

Call of Ktulu - Metallica

I love that too.

But NOT the one they did with Michael Kamen and the San Francisco Orchestra.

/headache

I actually like that version better. Sounds fuller, more developed. Probably the only song that sounded better on that CD.

I'd have to say Orion, however. It just has so much emotion and mood to it. Other candidates include Call of Ktulu, Dream Theater's Erotomania and Stream of Consciousness and Zao's Man in cage Jack Wilson

Opeth - Ending Credits

Definatly without a doubt, the best metal instrumental IMO

However, when it comes to the entire scop of music, that would also include full symphony pieces written and composed by the likes of beethoven and mozart.

Beethoven's 9th symphony is by far my favorite symphony.
...Though technically, it has a chorus at the end, so it's not completely instrumental (it is over an hour long, and most of it is instrumental)

ELO - Fire on High
Supertramp - School
Metallica - Nothing Else Matters

Oh oh - San Fran Sympony Orchestra - Ecstacy of Gold, off Metallica - S&M (the music that plays at the climax of The Good, the Bad and the Ugly

umm, Nothing Else Matters isn't an instrumental, unless all my life I've been singing along to words that were never there 😛

Well, it has about a 30 second instrumental section in it. Same with the supertramp song. My bad, misunderstood the OP 🙂

Ahh ok. Which part of the song are you referring to? The intro, or the instrumental section when it gets a little heavier? If you like the intro, you should check out a song calledf Short Stories With Tragic Endings by From Autumn to Ashes. It's emo metalcore, so if that's not your cup of tea you probably won't like it once the singing starts, but the intro always reminds me of NEM, except leaps and bounds better. It ends with a beautiful denouement that, like the intro, is nothing like the meat of the song.

The part I'm referring to is about a minute before the end of the song.

Apocalyptica's version of NEM (which IS instrumental) is definitely a good song to mellow out to.
