Your Favorite Graphics Card of All Time

Title says it all, with the keyword being card, not GPU. I'm feeling a bit nostalgic today and would like to see everyone's choices.

That is my favorite, purchased from NewEgg late in 2002. Man that thing screamed. I remember how proud I was at how many FPS I was getting in the original Ghost Recon.

8800 GTX - Most dominant card ever made

Probably either my GeForce 256 SDR or my GeForce 8800 GTS 640MB.

I got the GeForce 256 together with an AMD Athlon K7-700 as a new PC back in 2000 or 2001. For a while, I probably had the most powerful PC of any kid in my town. Was a small town. That was also a good time for gaming for me - lots of LAN parties with Counter Strike and StarCraft.

The 8800 GTS I bought as part of the first PC I ever bought myself, and it lasted for years. Not as good as the GTX obviously, but pretty powerful.

Those are the only video cards i think ive held onto for more then 1 yr.
Everything else in between got replaced in less then 1 yr.

The ATI Radeon 9800 Pro was legendary.
On the Nvidia side, likely the 560 TI.

BFG Tech Geforce 6800 OC.
Paid $300 for it in August, 2004.
Came bundled with Doom III.
Used it for 4+ years and then BFG Tech ran a trade-in program where I sent it in and they sent me a 9600 GT OC for FREE.
Still using the 9600 GT OC in my SO's PC.

The X1800XT was my first real expensive card, and it blew me away upgrading from integrated graphics. Had it for years as well.

The GeForce was probably my most loved. But the Voodoo3 was my first. And like they say, you never forget your first time.

I skipped the expensive 8800gtx and waited for the gtx260 to come down in price after AMD launched 4800 series. I only paid $185 bucks for it which was cheaper than the 4870 1gb. the gtx260 overclocked well and ran cool and quiet. I kept it for 3 years and it is my personal favorite card.

My choice may be surprising, considering I've owned multiple sets of high end sli/cf setups. But my favorite of all time, gtx 460 SLI. Overclocking machines, great on power/noise, and my first experience with physx/3d vision makes those cards the most memorable to me. Plus, there was just something about pairing up two mid range cards to obliterate the best single gpu card that was appealing to me.

I have to say that the current generation is my favorite, but that's easy because obviously they offer the best visuals so far. This is the closest generation I can remember as far as performance and value.

But in a historical context, I think the 9700pro was the biggest game changer aside from the original Voodoo.

Lots of love for 8800 series it seems. After I had my 6800GT, I jumped ships and had a 4870 for a LONG time. Looks like I missed out on an awesome card!

Hmm, this is tough.. I have to check my heatware and get back to you.

EDIT: Wow I had too many videocards to remember. (I hear Termie laughing in my head as I write this ) I did own an EVGA and Palit GF4 Ti4200 64mb. I loved those cards. Had it in the 2 rigs I owned back in 2002 I believe. I remember the EVGA being the better performer as well. After that I upgraded to a FX5900 Ultra which I got for free with MSI then I sold it for 2 graphics cards, a 9600 Pro and a Chaintech Ti4200 128mb. The Ti4200 came with a bad fan and the other came with a chipped GPU die which later on failed. Seller dropped communication with me and I had to get Texan66 after him(If anyone remembers that Mod if you were from AMDMB ) Long story short, I got all my money back and purchased a 9600XT and happily ever after.
