God I read this list and I was like oooh Din Tai Fung, BCD, this guy knows what he's talking about. And then I realized its you =) Hah. Excellent choices because I forgot those two, and Lawrys is awesome too (although I've only been to House of Prime Rib)

I don't eat at too many chain restaurants, but I've had a soft spot for the Capital Grill and Legal Seafoods.

Other than that, they suck. I'm sure some of the other premo steak places are pretty good, too, but I've only eaten at the Capital.

i'm with ya on the "chain restaurants suck" philosophy.

despite all of their expansion, legal remains high on the recommended list. capital grille is my favorite! there's 2 or 3 of them, i wouldn't call it a chain. ruth's chris' and morton's certainly are chains, but i've heard good things about them. the cheescake factory can go to hell.

Raising Cane?s

I think they sprinkle the food with crack or something. Don't have them where I moved too. 🙁

Claim Jumper is really really good.

Also, Bojangles and Q-Shack (which only exists in the Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill area). Q-Shack has the best BBQ I've ever had.

Where at? I have never seen one and usually go to Lexington for my BBQ fix.

Hmm ... last time I checked they had a place at Southpoint Mall. Now, their website only lists a place in Raleigh and I guess they opened a place in Charlotte.
