my favorite is tom kalinske of all the ones i know of... he was not the typical CEO. Al Smith would be the runner up, but i didnt really benefit from the Empire State building. Tom seemed like he cared about the kids more than his former competitors did and than i ever could. he didnt come across as phony like i do too much.

Jen Hsuang would be the third one, i think he is probably smarter than all of his competitors past present and future combined (except maybe for whoever ran matrox and Power VR, i dont know). and his mind is not clouded (although AMD's CEO seems like he doesnt contain much original thought... seems more like a typical CEO). he is good at securing deals. he has produced a lot on his own especially for a CEO... he wasnt given anything, but he worked for it unlike me. he is a self made man.

but i dont ever want to be a CEO because i fear that i would be worse than Howard Lincoln and too much like Hiroshi Yamauchi or even H. Nakayama and that would not give society good.

Bill Gates. Make billions, then spend the rest of your life figuring out how to help as many people as possible with it.

Richard Branson. The story of how he started Virgin Airlines is pretty epic. It's the best "just get shit done" story I've heard.

Not my favorite but I think Mark Zuckerberg is underrated. The guy steered a little website into the second largest on the internet. He's taken them through the piss poor IPO, into mobile, record growth, etc. He has done well.

A startup in a untapped market did well, that a result of a sharp mind and entrepreneurship, IMO a good CEO is an employee who took took on a company and helped it rise.

I would argue that navigating an undefined or non-existant market may be one of the most difficult things to do successfully, and you need to have a lot of conviction and foresight to do it successfully.

IMO he's overrated. Hate to credit one person for a company's success but FB really turned a corner when they hired Sheryl Sandberg.

Dana White, he runs a billion dollar company yet has no problem taking time out his day to go on Twitter and get into huge wars cussing out people who say negative shit about him or the UFC in general. I'd love to see him and Balmer get into a brawl. He's also the only CEO I can think of that drops the F bomb in every interview.

White would kick Zuckerberg's wimpy ass and call him a bitch afterwards.

Jerry Sanders former AMD CEO ranks up there for me. He was CEO when my mom was still working at AMD years ago. He was a showman and loved throwing awesome parties. The best was the anniversary party when he had Rod Stewart perform.
