i have been using skype for a while and the client is great and the calls work fine, but i hate the thing everybody hates about it: people always see your caller ID as 00001234 or something silly like that. and I plan to start using VOIP for biz, so that's a NO.

there isn't anything else that compares on price though...or is there????

I'm set up using teliax.com for outgoing calls.

If you've got a spare computer you can set up asterisk on it for a dirt cheap full featured phone system.
 
Doesn't skype offer a skypein service with phone number? If you get that, maybe it'll show that number when you make a call?

I have it, no complaints so far.
