A good jjajangmyun is easily my favorite Asian dish, followed by a good tonkotsu ramen. The best Asian dish I've ever had was the foie gras chawanmushi at Morimoto though.

i love good thai peanut noodles, alas no thai restaurants in my town. Only get it when I'm travelling

Do they even have cattle up in Mongol country?

😕

that's all they have in Mongolia. It's an extremely dairy centric diet. All they eat is milk, butter, and beef.

but yeah "mongolian beef" is a non-chinese "chinese" interpretation of some dish that doesn't exist.
...or so I've been told.

meaning--take-out Chinese creation. It's not an authentic mandarin dish. Not sure if it's Cantonese or not (which is the base of what we know as take out chinese.) But it's not Mongolian, either.

Sushi above all else. No contest.

After that. I do enjoy a great crab rangoon.
There's a Chinese joint in same plaza I work, so I been having something I haven't had before, every time I get something.
Still not as good as the Chinese joint I grew up on. They take great care of their return customers. My usual waiters/waitresses ALWAYS know what I want the moment I walk in the door. Soon as they see me they put an order of crab rangoon in. And they ALWAYS know to have EXTRA RED PEPPERS. Otherwise, they don't get a nice tip.

A Vietnamese joint opened up about a year ago. I've been there twice, so it's probably about time I pay them a visit again. Pho is cheap and a great filling meal.

Thai or Korean... close call for me. I like a wider variety of korean things but a well done thai basil fried rice might be my most favorite dish in the world.

just stay away from the live octopus and you'll be fine.

Well what should I try? I dislike kimchi quite a bit, which is odd because I'm half-polack and love pickled things, but I am open to whatever else.

omg if you want a korean dish to try have 'jae yook bokum' (spicy pork stir fried with veggies)

That actually might be my favorite food in the world... i take back what i said about the thai basil rice.

Holy crap I'm getting that tonight.

Thai is probably the one cuisine that I could order almost anything and like it. I actually like Jiangsu Chinese best, but it can be hard to find amongst all the generic Szechuan, Cantonese, mishmash of everything joints.

Korean and Japanese have a few dishes I like, but a lot I really dislike.

Vietnamese seems good in general, but I always tend to just get the noodle bowl or pho, so I am not sure I have enough experience with it to really make an opinion on the whole cuisine.

Korean BBQ is my favorite LA Rib Galbi or Bulgogi. From what I tried, the black noodles Jajangmyeon is good and also Tteokbokki.

Never had that, but thanks for the lunch idea. i made Spam fried rice. I fucked up the rice, but it was still good; just a bit sticky.

bulgogi
spicy pork
hot beef soup
various ramen and dumpling soups are not bad at all
hotpots are great

and of course, a great korean BBQ is just fantastic.

I am surrounded by tons of Korean here, so that helps. Though some spots can be horrible--mostly bland--or absolutely fantastic.

kimchi is one of those acquired tastes, I suppose. Sometimes I like it, sometimes I hate; but when I like it, it needs to be in small amounts. I never eat it at the end of the meal, because that aftertaste will stick with you all day. D:

My girlfriend and I go to a great japanese place about once a month and get (all for sharing):

Tsing Tao beer (I know it's Chineses, but I love it)
Seaweed salad
squid salad

A large bottle of the recommended warm saki
Tonkatsu
large varied sushi platter (chef's choice - I tip him well and he always does us right)

Man is my stomach happy after those meals.

Oh I've had bulgogi many times. Freaking love that stuff; did not realize it was Korean. 😀

I'll have to venture out to another joint in little Korea here to try some of that other grub.

I've only had the opportunity to eat at a Thai restaraunt once. Had chicken pad Thai. Meh. It was good, though not something that I'd go out of my way to order. Tried some of my sons dinner; tasty, spicier, but again, not something that I'd go out of my way to get. And, getting Thai food means a many hour drive. 1 hour drive for Japanese food - that restaurant sucked; not necessarily because of the food. Chinese? Plenty of Chinese food places selling "Chinese food."

indian, although persian is also pretty good and a shwarma with cucmber salad is a great lunch.
