Awesome poll 🙂

I like Destruction alot, but I am gonna have to say Slayer on this one.

Pantera sucked in the 80's 🙂

I dont think I would consider Bolt Thrower thrash metal 😕

Rages is ok, I find I only like 2-4 songs on each album

Kreator is pretty rocken, never listen to much Sodom.

Anthrax is  up to Sound of White Noise, after that they sucked.

I dont like Sacred Reich much

Celtic Frost is NWOBHM

Bolt Thrower

Your list is missing many my friend😉

Although I think Bolt Thrower is closer to Grindcore or even Death Metal, they are still one of my favs from the 80's. However, my vote goes to Slayer. I can't think of another album that will top Reign in Blood. Anyone else here memorize all the lyrics?? 😛
That came out almost 20 years ago!!! Holy crap!

Hell yeah I remember the lyrics, I used to be in a slayer cover band 🙂

You've got Pantera, Celtic Frost, and Bolt Thrower in there, but not Testament, Helloween, or Exodus? 😕

The suckage of this "thrash metal" poll is increasing exponentially.

To get through the crowd, Cartman plans to drill his way through the crowd, get to the stage and take over their sound system with the death metal music of "Slayer."
The ship makes it to the stage and Cartman gets his laptop hooked up to the sound system and begins playing "Slayer" through the sound system. The crowd, sensing the angry vibe begins to disperse; the town is saved and Cartman collects his reward.

Y'know what?

There ware way too many categories of rock. The line is getting so blurry that it's pathetic, as I can see where you're coming from. Thinking about it though, certain albums are more thrash than others. 😕

Fair Enough. I would consider just Kill em All as Thrash. Rest are one of the million sub genres of heavy metal.

This was a VERY difficult decision, as I really enjoy Anthrax, Slayer, Sodom, Kreator, Tankard, Overkill, Exodus, and Destruction about equally, however, I picked Kreator, because the "Coma Of Souls" CD is just so damn flippin awesome.

Where is Megadeth!!!!!! Also another good one (little lesser known) is Heathen, Their homepage has a bunch of the songs in MP3 format free for download I think.

Yes I still have all the lyrics seared into my brain and still to this day blast out the neighborhood for 3 or 4 songs before it's back to the elevator music 😱

pantera was a glam band in the 80s

i vote venom (although they are labeled as black metal now)

although overkill/slayer/testament is a close 2nd choice

Woohoo first vote for Testament!

OBEEEEEEEEYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!

Slayer is a close second though. They rock hard.

Eli, you've never heard Testament? Go out and buy their entire discography, NOW! They're heavier and thrashier than Metallica or Slayer and are fvcking awesome.

Venom was never thrash. I have a couple of albums, starting from their first album in 1981 "Welcome to Hell" and I can tell you they were never thrash. They are black metal.
