your experiences with temp/placement agencies?

Ive gotten 1 job through a temp agency and made quite a bit of money at it too. Figure that I am registered with no less than 6 agencies and you realize that they don't really help. :frown:

Try calling them up every day or every other day to see if they have anything for you. Some of the temp agencies I worked for actually recomended this. The people who work there will get to know your name and your resume and will eventually think of you when something suitable comes across thier desks. Or try updating your resume (read: lie harder. Hell, it's a temp job).

Bluesmurf has it right, call em nonstop! And pad the resume a little 🙂 Most temp agencies will do their best, because you are earning their salary too! Ask them what is being asked for and all that.

What hours/days did you put down on your availability? A lot of it has to do with that...and the types of jobs you said you could perform...the past two years I've worked for a temp agency called First Word (as data entry/staffer/company b1tch) and I've usually had non-stop stream of work...with the occasional down period...(it might just be a down period) - it did help to call them up every now and then to ask them is anything available.
