Your experience with online camera stores based in NY/NJ?

there are a few good ones as mentioned - B&H, Adorama, Cameta.

but there are probably 20 bad ones for ewach good one.

Most of those stores are legit. A couple of years ago I was shopping online when I noticed that they had cheaper prices so I decided to go a few of those stores and check them out myself. Even though most sales guys there were asses, I can tell you the products are legit. Not sure if I would trust them with product warrantee though

They are worse than some of those salesmen on a car lot

I've used them, knowing their bait & switch sales tactics up front. They will call you after the order is placed to "verify your address" or some crap. They will then attempt to upsell you on accessories and such. If you just order the camera, they will likely tell you they are out of stock on the item if you dont buy accessories either up front or on the sales call, since they sell the cameras alone with pretty much no margin. If you buy some accessories, you'll still get the sales call, but they'll fulfill the order. I wouldnt recommend them to anyone unless they know how they work, and are comfortable with that.

I bought my *ist D from them knowing that I would get a call. Didn't buy any accessories, guy was nice and wasn't really pushy, after I told him I already had everything he got it shipped that day. Not bad.

I bought from Beach/Buy Dig and things were pretty smooth.

I actually think NY/NJ happen to have the best AND the worst camera stores. Unfortunately, living in NYC means I have to pay taxes on stuff.

B&H and Adorama are cool. I got a few items from Adorama through Amazon.
