I have done it and it seem that theres alway problem with it and I am held liable. :( even thought it is a harddrive failure that goes dead and they wanted me to fix it for free out of my own pocket money. They say I suck it, heh. 10 years of experience, this is an insult, will be my last thought.

well ,i havent built any systems for my family. but one of my good buddies built a sustem for his dads secretary.i told him straight from the front that he should install the os and all the major programs she wants (kind of a newbie) and tell her that everything is tested, works fine. if anything goes wrong, u can aoccasionally give me a call. but it wont be my fault. its either you, or teh hardware that, messed something up. ub of course he didnt. one day she called, and in a snarky voice hissed "quickbooks isnt working, i need to do my work".
my personal opinion would be not to build for anyone except good friends immidiate family.

P.S the fix for her problem was to restart. just some of teh stupid questions u will be asked
after we told her to rstart, we hung up. 5 mins later we get a call asking, "how do i restart? i only see shutdown"
sigh, just a taste of the little problems u will get.

Wait for some of Dell's hotdeals on the Dimension 4550 (or another), you would find it difficult to build a similar system for less and the Dell's are almost silent. And as a bonus, Dell support can have the pleasure of asnwering all the stupid questions.
