(At least 257 times faster than a 56k modem)

Shazaam! 🙂 Yeah I'm at work. 🙁

P.S. We pay about $15,000 a month for 25 megs of an OC3 connection.

OC3 and OC12 connections limited by crappy wiring in dorm to 10mbit full duplex...included in housing fee, the newer dorms are limited to 100mbit full duplex at each port.

DSL, 256 Kbps up/down.

$14.95 per month for the ISP.

$21.95 per month for Qwest DSL line.

$36.90 per month total.

I think I'll be getting Road Runner cable again soon, for $45 per month, because it's faster (1500/256 Kbps), and because the cable equipment that serves my apartment has a loophole that gives me the cable TV "poverty package" for free when ISP service is switched on.

The poverty package gives me CNN, TBS, WGN, all the public access channels including C-SPAN, all the broadcast channels, and a few others, but none of the basic goodies like Comedy, MTV, DSC, TLC, Animal Planet, HIST, Bravo, AMC, etc., that I love but am not willing to pay for. I could take down the TV antenna from my bedroom ceiling. That would please my girl friend, even though the TV antenna makes a convienient drying rack to hang up shirts and things. (Yes, I have a full size Yagi-type TV antenna mounted on my ceiling.)
