hypothermia starts once your body temperature goes below 95F.
it's normally 98.6F.

that's not much margin. :hmm:

and water/moisture conducts heat away from the body faster than air

so staying dry is very important, and that includes sweat. don't let yourself sweat in the cold

Here in AL, anything below 60F is considered "cold". We have this thing called "fire" which tends to stave off hypothermia. You meat popsicles to the north should try it.

Dying at 45? Haha. I'm from MN and shoveled my driveway (multiple times!) last weekend from that storm. All I had was jeans a tshirt and gloves and I was sweating my ass off. Probably would have died from heat exhaustion if I had a jacket on. That was some damn heavy snow. I need a snow blower. :(

You sound like me. When I was younger and my dad had me shovel the driveway and sidewalk I'd be out there in jeans and a t-shirt because I'd be sweating my nuts off. Thankfully he invested in a snowblower a few years back.

Stand outside and look around.
If you see liquid water anywhere, it's not cold.

Wimps! It's 1F here and I'm going to take the dogs to the park now and then go running afterwards.

Yeah, I just moved into a place of my own in October and was thinking, "This driveway shouldn't be too bad." Now it's more along the lines of, "This is the biggest driveway in the damn world!" Solid workout, though, so I don't feel bad if I miss the gym. I'll suffer through this year and if it's bad next winter I'll probably end up getting one.

I'll be out working on my tan at 45 degrees!

Well, it has managed to climb up to a scorching 13 degrees here but of course with the wind it is -4 degrees in actuality. Anybody who lives where it never gets below 32 degrees should quietly exit this thread ..... LOL.

all you crazy northerners.

it is kinda funny though, everyone is freaking out because it's going to be in the low 20's tonight, they're issuing cold weather alerts at work
