I prefer to use a headset while I'm driving, but if it's going to be quick, I'll just hold the phone to my ear.

If it's night time or I really have to pay attention (driving somewhere I'm not familiar with the streets) then I won't answer the phone. I rarely make calls while driving and if I do talk and drive I keep the conversations very short under a minute. Of course it helps that I drive an automatic

I voted for that, but its rare because if I have a passenger in the car, I just give the phone to them to talk.

There are more people causing accidents adjusting their radios, or talking with a passenger in the car then there are cell phone related problems.

I seen something on tv a couple days ago about that, and cell phone related traffic problems contributes to 2% of the overall crashes each year, whereas the radio was 27% and talking was like in the 30% range. Eating waS EVEN WORSE THEN TALKING ON CELL PHONES WHILE DRIVING.

If you talk on a phone while you're driving, even with a hands-free device, you're a MORON!!!!

Cell/car phones, even hands free, draw your attention away from the road. Conversation doesn't go along with the traffic pattern like it would if you were talking with someone who is present in the car. They're a distraction, and make YOU a danger on the road. There is absolutely NOTHING in this world that can't wait 5 minutes until you're done driving.

You've got that backwards, unless you mean soccermoms telling their spawn in the back to pipe down in their suv's. Eating is worse though.

I know there is a fine on it and that it is dangerous but at least I keep it really short. My car is not worth enough to put a hands free device in it (it might actually be cheaper than the device)

most studies i've seen have eating, talking, or adjusting the radio at about the same accident rate. most of the difference is that you're far more likely to be doing one or two of those.

"I just hold the phone up to my head and talk"... if it's safe! Not in rush hour traffic moving at 80mph+ on the 635 in Dallas! I'm actually digging these headset setups nowadays and am looking into getting one. Most of my driving is around a small town or on the Interstate, so it's no problem for me.
