It can be colder in winter in Texas than it is on parts of Mars.

It can be comfortably warm close to the surface. During summer, and very close to the surface. Also, your definition of "comfort" has to include a fatally-thin atmosphere.
But still, there are some warm places there. 😛


It's just not as interesting for a news outlet to say, "It was 20°F today. That's colder than some places on Mars!!"
