No particular reason, but custom avatars are far more exciting (although also more of a load on the board, and I can understand why a board of this size doesn't allow for them)
 
I picked the platypus when I first joined and have never changed. There's something about platypuses that is kinda neet. Skoorb used to be a platypus for years until he betrayed the way.

for the longest time, i thought it was an artful line drawn on the crab to make it appear more lifelike. then one day, i noticed that crazy fvcker smiling. i'll never forget that day.
 
i come from a long line of desk makers. in fact, my great great grandfather built a custom desk for abraham lincoln back during wwii.
