18 and on, my parents and I started gettin along better, they realized I wasn't going to be a fvck up. Now things are great at 24, we're more on equal ground...
 
at 20 its getting better. And they start telling you stuff that they didn't before. It is funny to hear college stories from my parents considering the rhetoric they raised me with. But parenting require a hypocritcal nature because you don't want you kids to repeat your mistakes.
 
For *most* people your relationship with your parents will decline through your teenage years (when you suck) and then get better as you get older.

Some people just suck in general though.

I like my parents.
 
yeah, that happened to me around when i was 14 (im 15 now). it was weird, because they just sorta started pissing me off for no reason. i wouldnt say i hate them, i just get annoyed by them a lot.

Ditto. The culture promotes this "teens hate their parents" thing as though it were incredibly normal, but I have a hard time imagining that it's emotionally healthy. If you hate your parents and they're not abusive/neglectful, you're just an ass, IMO.

I really love my mom. I really admire for all her hardwork to make me and my brothers to have a better life. In some cases, parents are essential for growth

I find that to be true as well. At least with my parents, I'm seeing now that they really were right all along...oh well, you live and learn I guess.

I found the opposite to be true. My bro and I were just discussing about how they went from completely overbearing to completely distance right around the time we went off to college. But the funny thing was, they never were really useful at guiding us to make smart decisions about college, life, etc, no matter how overbearing or lax they were. They were always happy to bvtch and moan when grades weren't good or whatever, but they never offered any advice or tips on how to fix a problem. That stuff is important when you're a teenager, because you truly know sh!t at that point in your life.
 
I'm 23, love my parents. I think it was somewhere between 18-21 that i realized what everyone is talking about here.

My parents would do almost anything for me, as long as it is in my best interest. They wouldnt do something irresponsible though. Funny thing is, I agree with them what is irresponsible now.


Now that I've grown up, got an education, and have a career.. sometimes I wonder if my kids (when that time comes) will be like some absolutely useless friends I have who did nothing with their life and constantly fight with their parents (little b*tches is what I call them). Or if they will love me like I love my parents.

Most everything my parents did was right, including telling me to not hang out with certain people.. thank god for that... actually thank them.

I have some friends who just dont have it together and IMO have screwed up lives that are going nowhere, if you were to ask me.. maybe they think sitting around all day hating their parents and smoking pot in an apartment is success...


Love your parents. You wont understand the huge magnitude the greek world and judiasm (basically comprises your every thought), and its effect on your surroundings until university, but that "love thy mother and thy father" thing.. yeah thats a good idea and true like most of the fundamentals found in the judaic religon.

Take care of them like you would want to be treated by your own kids.. oops lol.. there it is again.

Same although I've generally always gotten along with my parents they just respect me more now.
