Can you write or read cursive?
Just wondering if the younger generation is still learning cursive.

How young is young? I'm 31, used computers since before I could read and write, but read cursive just fine. (I can write it, but it's pretty obvious that my penmanship peaked in 3rd grade.)

You mean like "fuck" and "shit" and stuff? You bet your goddamn ass I can read and write those words. I don't think I qualify as young, though.

I can read it if the writing is good. I can't write it at all. its unreadable. Though i have to admit my penmanship is terrible.

both kids are learning it in school. A buddy of mine has a children in 3rd and 5th. neither are learning it (rockford school district)

Depends who's writing it. I can't read my own writing, whether it's in print or cursive.

But in general, yes, I can read and write cursive, though I haven't had to do the latter in many years. (early 20's here).

once place where it's been an issue is book covers, especially children's/YA book covers

the designers think cursive adds that 'cute/girly' look

kids can't figure out what the book is called and pass

I'm 35 and lost the ability to write in cursive about 15 yrs ago. My signature is all that's left and even that looks like a 3 year old drawing more than a written name. I can read it just fine though.

I'm not young, but my kids are (10 and 8) and they have both learned cursive and can read it.

I'm 28, I read cursive and do write all my handwritten (obviously) personal correspondence in cursive.

22, can't even sign my own name in cursive. My signature is a cursive M followed by some scribbles.

I can read it though.

I'm 33, I can't read most cursive and I'd be damned if I can write it.

I could back in elementary school though. There really isn't a point anymore.

I can read well written cursive but no one, young or old writes cursive legibly it seems.

I probably can't write it though... let me see.. yep def can't write it anymore.

My son learned cursive last year, he's 9 and that was 3rd grade. I'm 33 and still take most of my notes for school in cursive as I can write it a lot faster than non-cursive and I don't care for typing my notes on my laptop. Though I do have two forms of cursive, one that I use for notes that noone can read besides me because I do it so fast, the other very neat and presentable that other people may want/need to see.

Can read it sometimes, harder than print. Can write it 'ok', can't really remember how all the letters were suppose to be fully formed. I kinda morphed my cursive and print into one to string letters together.

Glad less and less schools teach it these days.

Mostly because how hard to read messy cursive is over messy print.

I can read it if its written clearly. Writing it....is slow and hard for me at this point. Seriously the last time i wrote in cursive was probably when i was learning it 10+ years ago. Nothing is in cursive anymore in my life (work, home, ect) so see no reason to remember it

My signature is done in cursive, so yes. Though I don't use it much beyond that.

I'm 44, and not sure if I can write it anymore; certainly there's no occasion to.

I can read it just fine, but I had a hard time writing it for the SATs (where you had to re-write a paragraph in cursive about not cheating or something). Now, at age 25, I'd have an even harder time writing it.
