Besides all the normal answers to this question, I would take about 35 million of it and form this elaborate Brewsters Millions/Scavenger Hunt, Where there would be a 10 million dollar prize and each participant, chosen by me at random across the U.S., would get one million dollars to participate in the Scavenger hunt. They have to spend all 1 million dollars by the time the hunt is over. Overhead for all the accountants and such would be the extra 5 million.

Alright...

After getting my money securely deposited or whatever I would get a lawyer, an accountant, and a financial advisor. Also maybe a broker.

After getting that shit figured out, I would immediately splurge on something like a Porsche 911 Turbo S. Buy a Toyota Prius as well. (GOTTA BE EKANOMICUL) Go rent a place in LA or hang out in a hotel for a week before I decide if I wanna try living there. Take motorcycle classes, driving classes as well(for dah track), and get most of my time filled up with fun stuff in general.

I'll live a very spontaneous lifestyle probably... Also will try to have a really nice computer setup or three when I get into a place. (3x30" or 6x24" setup)

Pay off my parents debt. Buy my Dad whatever he's always wanted. A nice RC helicopter for sure, a nice sports car, and send both of my parents off on vacation for a few months to explode the world in first class.

What do you do?

Say you live in Washington. No income tax. Only 25% Federal tax on that stuff. In the end, you'll come out with $75,000,000 after all is said and done if you take the lump sum payment.

Move out of Washington. Buy a house on the beach in Santa Barbara, a couple of Ferraris and a 65' sailboat.

Why does everyone immediately buy a house? Why not rent and then decide if you wanna live there or not?

I'm thinking I might BUY a house because if it happened today in a down economy I could possibly get profit off that shit real nice later.. but still. 😛

I know where I want to live...so, why NOT buy a house?

Might keep a place in Manhattan too.

I'd definitely buy a house on the beach somewhere on Maui...or maybe Kauai. Then. maybe a place "upcountry" as well to get away from the heat and humidity.

I would look at purchasing the house a few houses down from my parents. It is amazing and would have everything I want. Last time it was for sale(no takers I believe) it was only $250k. I can live off $2 million for 30 years easy and I have no interest in moving somewhere else.

1. House(s)
2. Car(s)
3. Donate to something for good kharma.
4. Call up all the local banks and see who will give me the best interest rate.
5. Live on the interest.

Awesome, and then you can sell the movie rights and story for about $50 million, I like the way you think.

even as a multimillionare, I'd still want to be close to my friends and family, so I'd buy local (perhaps a waterfront condo in Jersey City with a Manhattan view or a brownstone) and save foreign cities for vacations 😉

Pay off my debt
Pay off my parent's debt
Buy a new home
Buy a home for my grand parents
setup an investment for most of the lump sum
Continue my education and land in a career
Pay my brother's education
Travel to the southpole !

IF I could keep my wealth a secret, I'd find a way to enrich my close relative's bank accounts. My wife would have a choice of retiring or continuing in her career. I'm pretty certain she'd continue to work, but in a slightly different role (taking more time off.) I'd continue teaching at school. There would be an anonymous donation on occasion to help out a couple of our programs. Plus, my favorite students would receive 100% tuition paid scholarships.

I can't afford one now, and I know where I'd want to live.

Pretty sure this is what I would do. First I'd find out a way to live off it, doesn't really matter how, investing or savings whatever. Pay off my immediate families debt and buy a new home for my parents cause they hate the one they are in now. I would probably not give anybody any cash but I'd definitely spoil my family lol. I'd immediately drop out of school, but stick around (except for lots of travelling) at least until my friends graduated and moved on. Then I'd buy a boat, learn to sail and set off around the world.
