Pretty soon, both Monarch and Newegg will be based in India (Its the new trend)

That I can guarantee won't happen to us. Even our tech support is here in Tucker, GA.

I'm impressed by these customer service stories and I like that you guys are in GA. I've never shopped with Monarch b4, but will now.

The 'Egg left a bad taste in my mouth when after ordering over $1500 in parts, they wouldn't let me return a $25 HSF w/ no restocking fee (I ordered a K8 instead of a K7 type).

They chose to charge me ~$4 and piss me off, rather than concede and keep me as a happy loyal customer.

I'll still shop there, but only for a really good deal and small parts.

I'll be taking a look at Monarch (currently on their site looking for a SFF) and pushing some business their way.

I'm normally a very solid NewEgg customer, but I have had two bad instances in a row..
This is an email I sent off to NewEgg

Hi,
I've bought quite a bit of hardware from you guys over the last several years.
I often recommend NewEgg to people I know and those online (Anandtech forums mostly) who ask for great places to buy from.
I also wear your t-shirts to work! (I have 8 of them)

I've come to depend on you guys for a great deal of my purchasing.
I build systems for people at work and they expect me to deliver the systems on time.

On *SO# *###### I ordered at 11/10/2004 9:28:11 AM.
I didn't receive my last package until Nov 16, 2004 10:59 am
http://www.fedex.com/cgi-bin/t...cknumbers=694247158767
I got the other two packages ordered the same day three days before.

I called your service representatives on the Nov 13th who then informed me there was a problem at one of your warehouses and that I would receive
my last package on Monday the 16th. This put me behind in making the system. The service rep apologized and basically did nothing else.

I have a package now that is undelivered that I paid for two day shipping.
It was ordered at 12/8/2004 8:06:10 AM SO# ######.
I was expecting delivery on Friday (today) 12/10/94. (8th to the 10th is 3 days BTW, the 8th for processing 2 days to ship)
FedEx says delivery will be again on a Monday
http://www.fedex.com/cgi-bin/t...cknumbers=701106990580
*Estimated delivery *Dec 13, 2004 by 4:30 pm
Why did I pay for two day service?
I would like to be reimbursed for the shipping difference between the two day shipping and FedEx saver .
This wasn't the way that NewEgg has treated me before over a long period of time.

Yeah, I've had some bad experiences with newegg as well. I had to wait 5weeks for a refund after then sent me another mobo that i did'nt ask for and I had to wait for it to eb delivered back to them and wait for them to process my refund (5weeks). This screwed up my plans because i wanted to use the cash to buy a DFI landparty. Anyways, i ended up getting some cash and bought it, but unfortunately my 30day warrenty for my chaintech mobo had ran out( I was planning to send this board back as well because of the issues)

Luckily I applied for an RMA refund before the 30days was up but did'nt get to send it off until the 30days had expired. Newegg says the ram request does'nt extend the 30day period. They're suppose to get my package today and if they dont refund me i'm going to kick, scream, whine, rant, etc 😀

I dunno, I hate ordering from them, but because they organize their products so well plus the order features i give in...however, If they screw me again i doubt it will eb enough to keep me there. I'm already looking at different places to buy stuff...esp small stuff that newegg charges an arm and a leg for shipping.

I've spent over 2000+ w/ them. I liek that fact that in the buyers guide anandtech uses a variety of vendors. Once newegg starts to feel the pinch they'll start revamping their customer care. Whenever anyone asks for advice on a product they're always linked to newegg and this is something i think needs to be stopped.

I just bought a HSF from newegg on sunday night, shipped FedEx Saver. They usually ship right away, but for some reason it didn't ship until thursday, about 8pm EST. When i tracked it, they had sent it overnight from Cal. to Ohio, and i did recieve it today. I would say there are few companies that would go to this expense for a $20 order to make up for their shipping delay.

"I've had a similar experience with monarch and it's nice to know that a few companies are out there to be honest and helpful!"

Wait untill they grow, then the change occures.

Damn. I'm -definitely- looking to Monarch for future purchases after this thread.

They may supplant the 'Egg for me - tend to go 'Egg with ZZF for what the 'Egg doesn't have, but I have noticed the 'Eggs customer service has been going downhill.

(Sad thing is, I've spent $20k+ at the 'Egg...and I've had issues with them before.)

(Edit) Ooo. Same price as the 'Egg for Opterons. Hello Monarch 🙂.

huh? I dont get what your point is...they screwed up...then "fixed" it...and you're congratulating them for something that should not have happend in the first place?

heh, newegg needs to extend it's staffing...hire more people, then things can go back to how they useto be...I'd hate to see them ruin what they've worked so long to build.

I havent had any problems from newegg. I had ordered a amd 64 3400 a gigabyte motherboard and ram and the mb was bad so I shipped it all back and then they said it wasnt instock anymore so they refunded my whole order in three days.Well I had to reorder a new mb and proc and ram but that came in three days as well. Now I'm having fun with my new computer.

The way I see it Newegg is now being villified as the wal-mart of e-tail computer parts vendors. The " OMGWTFBBQ newegg screwed me/sux!" threads are on the rise, and the complaints valid or not are made out like da egg killed their parents and kicked their dog 😛

I just did my first order with Monarch and they are excellent. I buy from around a dozen different places not including hot deals, and all are actually quite good IME so I just buy from the 1 on my list with the best price shipped for the particular item 🙂 What I'm getting at is don't put all your eggs in one basket! *pun intended* 😉

Zipzoomfly is much better then Monarch!!!!!!!!
Pls try www.zipzoomfly.com you will love the service.

Monarch is not up to Zipzoomfly Level how dare you compare with Newegg.com wohahahahahahaha!!!

Seems I see a lot of threads recently about Monarch. Did they just start to get competitive pricing or something?

No, they have been doing a fine job for a long time, I just never seemed to find the item I was after for less shipped than another of my trusted vendors so I hadn't used them. In the case of these Opterons, they had the best price, and the CPUs were instock *egg wasn't* They also give a 60 day warranty standard on AMD OEM CPUs which is the longest I've seen.

I got a reply back from my email this morning:

Dear Ed,

We apologize for this inconvenience.

We are not having trouble in the warehouse. This could have been a simple delay or error in the warehouse. For this inconvenience, I have issued you a refund for the amount of 23.60. Please allow 3-4 business days for this refund to take place.

If you feel you need any further information do not hesitate to contact me directly at:

So they are still trying to do a good job, maybe this has been a banner shipping year for them and they were
unready for it.

I'm at least happier now.

Both are solid companies.
But I would probably not buy a newish mobo from Newegg because you never know what rev they are going to send your way.

As I look to build out my new pc in January the plan will be to go to monarch fro the a8n-sli with 3500+, 1 gig ocz plat rev2. Go to newegg for all the periperhals. Last I checked it was about 750 or so at each site.

Monarch flashing to the latest BIOS and having techies process orders is worth spending a bit more on the cpu/mobo IMHO. I was concerned to see United Micro offer the a8n-sli for 238 then find it is 315 at Monarch. BUT with such a new board my guess is lots of work will go into making sure the thing works so its understandable. And I knew prices would high into January thus my wait til the latter part of that month.

Well, I'm currently unhappy with Monarch.

Ordered the XFX 6600 GT from them over zipzoomfly because ZZF has a reputation of not having an accurate real time "In Stock" designation, even though the difference at the time was $10 higher from Monarch (I notice now it's a $40 difference). Newegg charges sales tax in NJ now, they've gotten a little complacent, and all things being equal including service I prefer to give my money to a smaller company.

Good prompt emails confirming and updating me on my order, then a FedEx tracking number. Great so far.

Target delivery date is tomorrow on Friday, so I'm happy when I see by the tracking this morning that it's on the truck to deliver today. No one is there during the day, so I assume I'll be seeing the sticker on my door.

I call FedEx to see if I can get it released so it's on my doorstep tonight rather than tomorrow night after I sign the sticker. I'm told it has to be physically signed for per the shipper, the sticker won't be enough.

Spoke to Monarch, they were polite but firm about it, citing liability, theft, and holiday rush. Can't redirect the shipment to my workplace, must have a live person at my address to sign for it, or it has to be picked up at the local FedEx distribution point. I can have it held at the distribution tomorrow to make sure it's there when I or my wife get there, but that's not the point. The only time someone will be home at all is Saturday, my wife and I both work, and the local distro is not exactly convenient to either one of our offices.

I can see their point, but I won't willingly order if I know it's going to force me to drive to the FedEx center to pick up my order. On hassle alone that's not all that different from going to my local big box and getting gouged, and I won't pay extra for Saturday deliveries due to their policy. And I won't put my workplace on file with my credit card to allow different billing/shipping address.

Not all that angry, since I understand their rationale, but this is the vent type thread, so I wanted to express my dissatisfaction here rather than on resellerratings.

But currently I'm unlikely to buy from them in the future unless it's a mobo or combo that I have them assemble and test for me, the shipping issue is annoying.

For about an hour I was sick...then at about 6:55 the phone rang. Guess who? The rep from Monarch. Told me he got the product off the truck, put in the windchester core, flashed the bios, and that I should get it sometime tommorrow. I about chit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This guy made my day!!!

I believe this falls under customer service

by the way...his goes by the name of Will....1-800-611-0875 ext234

so the big question is, did they tell you the truth?

did you recieve the right processor and motherboard?

it would really stink if you took the time to write this post, and they DIDN'T tell you the truth.

Anything related to feedback you should always hold off on making until the transaction is complete and your fully satisfied, because what if they blatantly lied to your face, and the same thing you initially ordered showed up at your door?

KiltedFool,

Go to Fedex and sign the release waiver. That way you authorize them to leave the packages at your home in a place you specify. It doesn't help you with this order, but if you don't live where you fear someone will gank your stuff, it is the solution for the future and doesn't futher limit the vendors and shipping choices you have.

oh, how I wish it were THAT simple.. 😉

with FedEx the sender can OVERRIDE any wavier that you may have signed, and in most cases they DO. Some vendors let you specify one way or the other, but the big ones do not, ie ZZF, and probably newegg as well.

Well I have my own Monarch story. I called them last Wednesday asking about Nforce4 availibility and pricing. Basically, I have been waiting on these boards, but can't afford them at current MONARCH HIGH PRICES. He told me to check back on Friday and over the weekend because the prices should be coming down. The phones would be off, but the website would show the pricing changes over the weekend. So I checked back a BUNCH of times (I mean they probably recorded record hits because of me) and still only found the boards for $315. SO I feel a bit bitter towards them at the moment for getting my hopes up and telling me somethign that obviously WASN'T TRUE. I was really hoping to buy my system from them, but I guess I will probably be looking elsewhere unless they do somethign about that price. Man, I gotta get this system before Christmas! Well, I am glad to hear that you had a good experience with them. I just wish I had gotten the same level of service.

because the prices should be coming down

Should and will are two different things.
I wouldn't expect the NF4 boards out in volume until after the 1st of the year.
With that said, the prices will remain where they are until the volume can meet the demand.

a product can only be sold at prices that 'the market will bear'
