I'd hate to be in IT when any high profile site like that goes down lol. Somebody probably got fired. Shit happens and sometimes it's out of your control but try telling management that. 😛

You-tube has massive amount of servers and I'd imagine massive amounts of redundancy, I'd be shocked if one disgruntled employe could cause this, I think it's an DDS attack of some type

Usually a screw up of this magnitude is caused by human error. Google could survive entire data centers getting shut down without an outage due to its distributed design.
 
Whew it wasn't just me. I was almost restarted my phone last night which would have taken entire minutes!
