Try 1.4 Euro per liter. That's what it is here in Portugal. It was 1.3 Euros per liter in Spain.

Someone do the math. I don't have a calculator. I believe it is 3.85 liters per gallon and the exchange rate is roughly 1.6 dollars per 1 Euro.

That's because Europe taxes the shit out of gasoline/diesel to promote conservation, public transportation and socialism. If we taxed our gas like they tax theirs, ours would be the same or higher in price. If they didn't tax it that way, they would use more of it and our price would be higher because of the higher demand/use.
 
the problem I have is that the Gas prices went triple or higher in like 4-5 years.

I remember back in high school it use to be lik e $1.4x for premium
 
You're paying about 8.35 a gallon there in portugal. I filled my diesel rental a few weeks ago for about $9.90 a gallon here in the UK. I think the price has gone down a bit...but I don't remember how much...I just filled up the other day and I felt like it was less.

It does indeed work both ways. Venenzuela is paying $0.12 per gallon.

Speaking of subsudies, the governor of Alaska wants to give a rebate of $1,200 for every man, woman and child in Alaska because their tax and sales revenues are overflowing because of oil. Who owns the oil: Alaska or the US?

yeah....but those countries are so small it doesn't matter. Plus, europe has public transit. Here in states, there are only select cities that have good public transit. I live 3.5 miles from work. I can walk it in 45 minutes....

If I rode the bus to work, it would take me 30 minutes to an hour and a half depending on time of day and if I have to wait at the stops.

If I drive, it takes me 5 minutes.

Portugal has a total area of 35,672 square miles

Maine, which is 39th of 50 in size in the USA is 35,387 square miles.

Ugh to you Euro pee ons.
 
It isn't that gas costs more in Europe, it's that taxes on gas are much, much higher.

The actual cost of gas is about the same.
