You sit down at a public computer and there is an Ipod connected to it.

I'm a take it vote , but I'd leave my info at the desk.
Unclaimed lost and found ends up in the pockets of those who work there.
Why let them have it if not claimed?

No, you would have planted it hoping it would grow.... Damn hippie.

I would start a picket. Just think of all the trees that were cut down to make that ipod, man!

I'd give it to the front desk (lost/found). I have friends who have lost their iPods and they've been completely pissed off for a couple days.

I ALWAYS turn stuff in to L&F. It's the ONLY thing to do - put yourself in the owner's shoes and YOU would want the finder to do the same for YOU.

Ya no kidding, and for you thieves, karma is a bitch.

There are no other options other than turn it in.

I'm not advocating theft, but if you leave your expensive toys lying around in public it's your own fault.

So, you consider taking it to be justified, and not theft?

Specifically, what would you do if you found it by that public computer?

If I were in an area where theft is less likely then I'd leave it at the computer. If I felt that there was any chance of someone else swiping it then I'd turn it in.

I would more then likely bring it to the L&F as most public computers I come across are in airports, hotels, etc. At these type of locations It's just begging to be swiped.

switch the story up from $60. How about a lightsaber sitting next to the computer?

I found a Microsoft Zune at school in a lab (I work as an IT guy) and I turned it in at the office. The kid was a football player and had his pic showing a jersey # on the background. Easy to track that one down.

What bug crawled up your ass perk, you been hanging in P&N?

I'd probably leave it as is for the duration of my session on the computer, assuming the forgetful owner would be back shortly. If no one claimed it by the time I was ready to leave, then Lost & Found.

I was only saying you can't point an angry finger at thieves when you invite it to happen. Lack of personal responsibility is a big peeve of mine.

Scream, "Holy shit, this thing is ticking, it's fucking ticking!" then run as fast as I could. But I'm not allowed in libraries, so it's a moot point.

ATOT requires you to explain why you are not allowed in libraries.

You missed teh funnay.
True, but the rest of us get two funnays now. ;)

Kind of like this gem:
"I wonder who's responsible for the shitting?"
"They drive an automatic."

picture of himself as the background? True jock :p

I would turn it into lost and found. Not out of some moral sense like I would like to think, but more likely out of a laziness since I already own one, don't need another, and don't want to find someone to sell it too and would like to think some other lazy jerk would do the same for me.

I would look through the ipod. I dont know if I would keep it or not. I really don't. Knee jerk reaction....

Keep it, if there is a bullentin board or something where I can make it know for the owner to find it, then leave me contact info. Have them id it by the content on the Ipod and the Ipods name. If they never claim it, they never claim it. But like others, I would not want to turn it into lost and found so they could steal it.

If its at work, thats about the only time I turn it in. In a public place though.... its just to iffy.

I'd take it and let the people who work there know that "something" was left connected to the PC so if someone comes looking for "something" they should give me a call.

I wouldn't trust the people working there not to keep it for themselves if I turned it in.
