You should really try your LCD in portrait orientation

Many people are going to see the light once they flip their LCD 90deg and experience the goodness of portrait mode. For documents, web browsing, trolling, programming - it's the best. I've went from being an early widescreen adopter (Dell FPW2005) to 24" to 27" and now I've converted completely to using 3x 24"s in portrait mode.

The downside is that the new 16:9 monitors (as opposed to the 16:10/1920x1200) make it slightly more awkward and that it sucks for gaming (I keep a 27" for that).
