You musta smoked too much, you're supposed to keep the weed and drop off the FILM!

Gopunk: You'd think that the intent of the law is to keep children from being victimized, but think of some of the fundamentalist wackos who get to make laws, they'd fully support having any nude pictures of ANYONE destroyed. Anyway, a large company isn't going to risk it for your $6.99.

I've heard walmart will confiscate *any* pornographic pictures, even keeping the negatives.

They don't print the picture, but give you the negative. They also include a piece of paper stating their policies when they do this..

ummm...a friend told me this ;)

One time some friends and I got in trouble at Wal-Mart.

NOt because of nudies though.

We were bored and decided to test our hollywood makeup skills and took

pics of each other all butchered up with fake blood.

There was two cops there when we picked them up.

It was obviuos we were the ones in the pics so nothing happened, but

they didn't seem too happy with our stunt.

Wouldn't that apply to any Photo Lab?

Eh, maybe/maybe not. When you send your film out to kodak I've been told that its pretty much all automated, and thats what the costs can be lower. At a one hour shop a tech must load your film, print it, and if he's good, Quality Control it by glancing at each print quickly (to make sure color/density is right). Im not entirely sure that happens when it gets outsourced to kodak/whoever.
Oh - OK.

Wherever the local supermarket sends our film, we don't pay for any bad shots, so I thought someone would have to check them by hand (eye?).
I guess all the labs don't do that.

So.... serious question here:

What kind of qualifications do you need to get a job at these photo developing places, and what is the usual pay rate?

No qualifications needed, really. Anything needed you will be trained while on the job, but Im sure certain places will want previous experience.

For a typical one hour place, pay will obviously depend on the market but ~4 years ago Ritz in Oak Park, IL started folks at $6.00/hr and you got raises from there depending on how bad they wanted to keep you and how good you were. If you work for a couple years and are *good*, you can usually become a lab manager (if its a bigger store) and Ritz had them on salary. didnt pay too well, I think 22-25K/year plus performance bonuses.

I got some pics of me and a friend smoking a bag of weed developed through one of those mail-in photo places. We had pictures of the bag w/ weed, us toking, and then some munchy pics.

Actually, I don't think they can get you for anything if you take pics of or film yourself doing drugs. Hell, why the hell can they sell High Times if it is illegal to take pictures of weed? How do people get away with saying they use drugs on television if it can get them in trouble? Let's be serious here.

Yet another reason to take your films to Ritz, They are more liberal. Unless you're doing something clearly illegal, they'll develop everything.

They're not going to call the cops on you if you accidently took a shot of your baby's naked picture in the shower.

Yeah, thats where I worked for ~4 years, Ritz. As I said, we only called the cops once, and that was when we saw what looked to be a clearly underage girl. I'd say we got nudies (legal ones) about 2x/week.

2x a week? If the girls were hot, would you make copies for yourself?

To the best of my knowledge taking pix of weed isn't illegal. Taking pix of people smoking weed isn't illegal. But you just handed someone evidence of you commiting a crime.

And, as someone else already mentioned, yes digital cameras rock. :D

What's all this talk of not droping pics off at 1 hour labs? You mean at full service labs you get more privacy? Or what?

edit: ahh i see
