You should not get certain pictures developed at a 1 hour photo lab.

Some 15 year old girl brought in film to my girlfriend's store today to get it developed. Apparently she has several friends who like to get naked and take pictures of themselves (yeah, I bet you wish you knew them in high school).

Anyway, not only did they not get thier pictures back, but they also got thier parents and the police called.

so: If you have pictures of naked teenage girls (even if they're of yourself) or other things that might be illegal, such as weed, don't bring it to a drug store photo lab to get developed.

This has been a public service announcement brought to you by notfred.

I think the manager of the store decided it would be best to NOT risk getting charged with producing child pornography.

It is still quite illegal, and you WILL get severely punished by the courts for it. One of my good friends worked at one of these labs, and had several people try and develop some pictures. If you are of age, then fine.

Just remember how they treat the child molesters in prison. Should be enough to stop anyone :)

I worked at a one-hour photo place before.

Pretty much dont ask, dont tell unless you saw something really bad

(Little children, dead bodies, etc.)

Was kinda funny watching people trying to hide a couple nudie shots in
the middle of a roll house pics or somethin.

Then seeing them be all nervous and sweating when picking up their pics.

The week after Madi Gras was always a good time at work;)

Oftentimes the person who developes the roll does not ever meet the person who drops it off. When I was working as a phototech 4-5 years ago, oftentimes we just printed non-stop for 8-10 hours and never interacted with the customers.

We occasionally got pornography, but only child pornography once (or what we assumed to be, she looked ~13-15). We called the police but I dont know the end result, my manager at the time handled it.

You see some really crazy stuff working as a photo-tech. We had a regular customer who went on vacations all the time and there was *always* one roll from each trip of his wife posing naked. Nasty old lady too, bleh. :disgust:

We had a guy come in twice (a year apart) from an annual nudist festival. That was pretty nuts too. :Q

Well they couldn't really just give the roll back, seeing as how it would have to be opened up and the negatives developed. Suppose they DID give back the negatives and the kid's parents found out. They'd still be in trouble.

You musta smoked too much, you're supposed to keep the weed and drop off the FILM!

Gopunk: You'd think that the intent of the law is to keep children from being victimized, but think of some of the fundamentalist wackos who get to make laws, they'd fully support having any nude pictures of ANYONE destroyed. Anyway, a large company isn't going to risk it for your $6.99.

I've heard walmart will confiscate *any* pornographic pictures, even keeping the negatives.

Yet another reason to take your films to Ritz, They are more liberal. Unless you're doing something clearly illegal, they'll develop everything.

They're not going to call the cops on you if you accidently took a shot of your baby's naked picture in the shower.

Yeah, thats where I worked for ~4 years, Ritz. As I said, we only called the cops once, and that was when we saw what looked to be a clearly underage girl. I'd say we got nudies (legal ones) about 2x/week.

Wouldn't that apply to any Photo Lab?

Eh, maybe/maybe not. When you send your film out to kodak I've been told that its pretty much all automated, and thats what the costs can be lower. At a one hour shop a tech must load your film, print it, and if he's good, Quality Control it by glancing at each print quickly (to make sure color/density is right). Im not entirely sure that happens when it gets outsourced to kodak/whoever.

Funny thing about that guy is that he explicitly told us we could make copies. I was all excited until my manager (~7 months preggie at the time) threatened to fire us if we did. :( She even took the waste prints from those rolls and tore them up. :(
