First you tell us to download something but you don't provide a link.
Second, what popups?

Are you that lazy to type google.com in your address bar???

No, just never see any information on it on google.com. It is under the services and tools, which I didn't know until just now. It says it is for IE though...

I use EMS Free Surfer mk II. Blocks javascript scripts that deal with browser window openings. It includes a counter and you can configure it to play a sound through your speakers or beep through your mobo speaker when a pop up has been killed. And it's freeware.

I just turn on Opera's 100% sure all-popup blocker when venturing into dark areas on the net. Google search is on my toolbar, anyway.

The popup blocker keeps resizing IE, forcing me to have to click maximize all the time. I disabled the blocker for that reason.

popup blocker,
ditto
form filler( though i dont use it),
...and even IE will do that!
and now a calculator.
...which ahs nothing to do with the toolbar and can be easily accessed with anything that can also search google (in my case, Mozilla 1.4 and LSXCommand using Mozilla)

i tried firebird a few days ago and i just couldn't get used to it. it felt a tiny bit sluggish and had some weird bug that made it close improperly and use 100% cpu[/quote]
...tried the installer? However not official, it does wonders for stability (or did for 0.6, not sure if they fixed that stuff in 0.6.1).

Also, it's only sluggish in loading, and then only because you have IE half-way loaded all the time. Using Litestep instead of Explorer for a shell, Mozilla and Firebird load faster than IE 🙂.

right, but in effect the toolbar becomes like a calculator. that function would not be there in ie without the toolbar.

no I havent used the installer. gonna try it later.

well it's not really sluggish i guess. I kind of exagerrate it a bit. it is just a tiny bit slower than ie when refreshing the screen. probalby wouldn't notice it after a while

anyway I'm sticking with IE for now because I've always liked it (and ms software in general)

Most browsers can search from the address bar or special text boxes, but I actually use the features of the toolbar. Backward links, google cache, keyword highlighting, translate to english, search news groups, search this site, all with 1 click. Maybe most importantly are the little keyword buttons you can click to seek thru a page. Mozilla does have a google toolbar clone that matches almost all the features, but the last 2 times I tried installing Mozilla, it just crashed.

I'd use IE + google toolbar if my face was on fire and and another browser could spray water on me.

My thoughts exactly.

Now that I've been using the Google toolbar for so long, it's like a microwave oven. I wonder how we ever got along without it. Even version one was great just for the ease of having search integrated into the browser like that. With the additonal features of the new version and the very effective pop blocker, this is one of the rare freeware apps that would actually be worth paying for.

Great stuff, pop-up blocker (excellent), the best features of google on your browser. Get it now if you haven't already.

Opera is better.

See, this must be where I differ. I've always had a microwave, but I get by without it jus fine, except for heating up beef-based leftovers. Everything else can be done about as quickly and better with iron, aluminum or steel pots and pans.

It is? Do elaborate. I'd agree with you before Mozilla 1.3.1 (the first really stable one)
1. It's not any faster than Firebird (0.6.1) to me
2. Firebird doesn't have banner ads.
3. I can't find anywhere to qukcly (middle button ot ctrl+t "quickly") add tabs to my current window.
4. Firebird takes less screen space (800x600, so yes, that matters)

Aside from the author mode options, what does Firebird lack (note that mouse gestures and new keyboard shortcuts can be added via plugins and editing things in about:config) that Opera has (well, and a banner ad)?
