For most places they don't count for shit. I'm just using it as a stepping stone to transfer in as a Junior at a state school.

Technically it could help me though if I decided to not finish school.

Congrats OP!!

The thread title reminds me of the time the wife and I were filing taxes and the wife was employed as a "Sales Associate". The nice tax lady abbreviated her job title on the 1040 as "Sales Ass."

Actually, if you have prior service you skip the first 2 years of ROTC and just do the last 2. The Cadre there will love me though as a Active Duty Leader with 2 deployments + squad leader time. I'm gonna bust some heads on day one.

As I have come to realize from people here on ATOT, Associate Degrees are printed on rolls and stored in the bathrooms for alternate use...

BUT, it was all my voc-rehab program would pay for, so I'll gladly take what I could get.

Associate degrees, probably more so than other degrees, are what you make them. I've watched folks earning Associate degrees work harder and longer and learn more getting their degrees than most BA bunnies could handle, under really crappy conditions. It is entirely up to the student.

Why would you get an A.S. for a History degree? Where I am the science requirements are much more for an A.S. compared to an Associate of Arts.

You still have to play the game, regardless of your background, unfortunately. However, the game is far less intimidating.

Congrats and good luck with your future schooling. I bet you can't wait for all the BS once you finish ROTC, butter-bar-to-be. :)

It doesn't matter in Illinois, you transfer in as a junior with an AS or AA... besides, I'm getting a BS in History because no way I'll ever pass foreign languages in a college setting.

Oh, I know that.. but I already talked to the LTC and CPT about the program. I'll probably be a "company commander" in semester #1. I have more real world experience than everyone but maybe one student.
