You are responsible to report a crime if you witness it.

What good comes out of you getting involved?
What good comes out America that is fill with people who do not care for the society that they live in.

Do you always paint in such broad strokes?

You pick your battles in life. Teaching someone else a lesson when it really isn't any of my business is not one I care to get involved in.

It's like trying to police the speed limit on the expressways. It's not my resonsibility. It has nothing to do with not caring about my society and everything to do with doing what is best for me and my family.

So you wouldn't do anything if you saw someone else's house get broken into? You wouldn't do anything if you saw someone get mugged?

You have a strange idea of what your business is. How would you like it if you turning a blind eye to the quality of your society backfires? What if YOU were getting mugged and everyone around you was like "eh, fvck him, I don't care"?

the who would help the girl in trouble part was totally stolen from japan's densha otoko story and the test they did on the tv show trivia no izumi. haha. it aired about a month or two ago and they tested to see how many otaku's would help the girl in trouble in a alley. lol.

I'm surprised to see how many people would do nothing... Oh wait a minute, not really. It's good to know I can't count on people who disagree with this philosophy, :disgust: but keep in mind I'll be there sticking up for your interests if the situation ever arises.

shoplifting from a major chain or supermarket: nothing, not my business

shoplifting from a small mom and pop shop, i'd definitely call attention to it. If shoplifting from a house/person/car, id try to stop him.

Please explain how it's your business to call attention to a robbery for a small shop, yet do nothing if it's a large chain. Are you saying it all of a sudden becomes your business just because it's not a large chain or supermarket?

Here's a question. If you witness it and report it to a store employee, can he do anything since he didn't actually witness it? I thought stores had rules (or there might be laws) on how you can accuse someone of shoplifting. Supposedly, an employee has to witness and wait until the thief leaves the store before doing anything about it.

let them go, not that big a deal, 5 finger discount all the way baby. that and most store employee's dont give a crap, i mean, if you get paied 6/7 bucks an hour, its just not worth it. i used to have jobs where people would steel, i just didn't care, it like, oh well, buisiness lost 50cents today, pah to that.

Are you that apathetic? Do you have any sense of socitey? Do you even know why it's a crime, or what crime is?

Why would you participate in their crime (by not reporting it) putting yourself at risk? I mean even if you don't care about the above questions, even the selfish "mind your own business" attitude folks can understand this.

Yea a while back, when i use to shop at walmart. I saw 3 hispanics out of the corner of my eye in electronics stuffing a suitcase full of stuff. They then started top follow me to see if I saw anything. So I played it cool and I guess they went back to their ?stuffing?. On my way out of electronics I just walked up to the woman and acted like I knew her and leaned over like I was going to skake her hand or hug her and then just whispered in her ear, ?there are 3 hispanics stuffing a suitcase full of stuff over there??. She looked at me weird as I walked away but when she saw one of the lookouts sticking his head around the corner the next thing I heard was ?I need help in electronics? code $%^?...?. Needless to say I don?t think they made it out the store that day.

And yes shoplifting effects everyone. Companies have to make money to stay in business and to pay their employees, even if walmart pays next to nothing. So a shoplifters just makes the prices that much higher for all.
And yes I will turn in a shoplifer, just as I would turn someone in for breaking into your car, house, etc...

It depends on the person I think. If it was some dumb kid(s), I'd just scare the crap out of them. If if was some dumb adult, I'd make sure they were restrained until the police arrived, offer to the management/owner of the store to testify in court when they press charges. If it was some dumb sr citizen, I don't know what my reaction would be, I have respect for my elders, but they certainly do not have a right to steal.
