WTF is wrong with half the people on this board?! I've been here for quite a while now, and I try to stay out of the politcal, religious etc. debates though I admit sometimes I get sucked in and make a post or two...but ALL I FKCING SEE, is some dude stating his opinion, and some asshole calling him a "Narrow minded bigot", or a "weak minded arrogant ass", or other words incorporated into the same kind of attack. 99% OF THE TIME!! Then the person goes on to proclaim how they are a PROUD OPEN MINDED person!

WHAT THE HELL?

So you are STUPID and ARROGANT and WEAK MINDED because you won't agree with the masses and go along with what you don't think is right?! You opinion is WRONG and you are NARROW MINDED if you oppose ANYTHING?!

This isn't anything new. These posts, complaint posts, flames, etc. have been going on since the AT forums have existed, yet it never stops. Newbies come in and start it up again, and drive the old members out. Do any of you have ANY idea HOW MANY TIMES the gun control debate has been POUNDED INTO THE GROUND on AT?! More than I can count. How about abortion? Or gay focking? Or Bush vs. Gore/<insert popular political debate here>?! Do you REALIZE what you say is NOT new?! Texmaster and Czar and whoever else have been flamed to death for being on either side of the political realm. Trust me. ITS OLD. Don't like what they say? They were here first. There's the door.

This goes on in car threads, as well. Someone doesn't like a new car and YEP, they are a arrogant ass who is CLOSE MINDED to new ideas. What if I DON'T like some kind of car that looks like a 3 year old designed it with a crayon between his teeth while drooling on the paper?! WHOOPS! There I go again! I can't "do better than that", and can't show you "anything better", eh?

And NO! I'm NOT "Sorry for the rant". I mean it. It pisses me off. The flaming has been going on long enough and several mroe knowledgeable mebers of the AT community have had the sense to say "F*ck it! This is stupid!" and left.

yes, it has happened much and probably won't stop. don't let it bother you man. eventually people will become more open-minded and learn to have respect even under the veil of the internet's anonymity.
 
My tolerance for this crap is down too. I have friends (yeah I do wiseasses) who have contrary opinions, and we are still friends. We articulate our views, and rarely change our minds, but it sometimes happens. If someone talked to me in person talked to me in person the way I have seen others treated here, they would not be happy with themselves afterwards. Disagree by all means, but show some restraint and have a better argument than "you suck"

The answer is because they are starting a debate and someone in the debate should expect different opinions and negative comments. These are facts of life that exist whether we like them or not.
 
Freedom of speech? Then he'd have the freedom of speech to gripe about it if he wanted to, even if nothing came of it, right Zin? 😛 *not hypocrisy*

The REAL problem here is, everyone here is a pretty smart person, and no one ever wants to "change or concede their beliefs", especially to peeps they prolly never met, or will meet! A bunch of opinionated ppl we are, just like the REAL WORLD, which for some reason, this board seems to represent to me more than any other...

Narrow minded or just has his own opinion on things and refuses to conform to the ways you think it should be? I am not even going to discuss the issue because it would turn into a huge flame-fest, but I love it how all of you who consider yourself to be open minded walk around with your holier-than-thou attitude towards anyone who has a believe that contradicts your own. BTW, many people have non-spiritual reasons not to support homosexuality. It is not just a Christian thing. Oh well, I said I won't discuss as it won't change any minds here, just piss people off. Instead I will study for my Physics test tommorow . >>

I was comparing Sharon to Hitler if you had been reading correctly. However I am holding the Israeli people partly at fault because they voted for him. Hitler was elected democraticaly as well.

Yeah, I am refusing even to discuss anything with these people when it gets like that. If someone is willing to have a rational conversation with me in a civil manner I'm all for it, but if the subject is touchy everything usually goes to hell. People just enter a conversation with the preconcieved notion that they are right and it comes off in their post. Oh well, I had to study for my test so I better get back to it.

I've brought this up before, but usually no wants to listen. So I'll bring it up again: About 20 percent of the Israeli population is Palestinian.
