I DID search for Longhorn AND for Palladium
Longhorn is "The Microsoft Secure PC project is rolling out, and could be with us as early as the next major version of Windows, Longhorn. The whole idea of a computer that just plain won't let you steal other people's stuff is of course a tricky one (why would you buy it?), as we've previously indicated here, and here, so the ever-resourceful Beast is proposing to spin it as the ultimate tool for protecting your stuff."
Palladium is in short "A recent MSNBC article by techno-pundit Steven Levy discusses Microsoft's plans for a new computer operating environment (code-named "Palladium") that links hardware, software, and data into a neat package, allegedly more secure and convenient for users."
Please forgive me if this is a repost...but I've always depended on Anandtech users for the most up2date info on all the things tech (that matter anyhow) so I felt obliged to post. So, I guess regarding the title... you could really just keep W2K or XP or whatever you're still runnin' MSwise...but I'd imagine that all the support from here on out will be strictly infected w/ palladium JUNK. :|
