Holy fscking crap. I understood your entire post. Excuse me while I go crack open a beer in celebration! ;) :D

Seriously though...what do you expect, Moonbeam, when a car is powered by enlightenment? :p

True. In general domestics are far more honest than imports, specially Japenese who do more silent recalls to avoid publicity and maintain the carefully cultivated reputation for their bland cars.

Ford makes a bundle

While their numbers for the remainder of the year could do who knows what, thats a nice 1st quarter.
Even though they are showing an increase in profit, this is offset by the 700 million they will lost this quarter due to a down turn in the industry.

I don't understand, how are you losing money when you make a profit? I always thought that any income over your fixed and variable costs was considered profit. Where does the 700 million figure in, decreased car sales? Then why do they have an 800 million dollar profit?

1993 Ranger v4 (traded for probe)
1994 Probe GT (traded for mustang - was a fun car for being 17)
1995 Explorer EB edition (bought to haul boat, I shared time with this and my convertible. It was my parents but they never drove it, so i did :D )
1995 Mustang V6 convertible - totaled (someone hit me)
1995 Mustang GT Hardtop (bought with insurance money)
1995 Ford Lightning (350 windsor - i miss that truck - owned this at the same time as the Boss)
1996 Mustang Boss Shinoda - 390hp of love ( my love, got totaled, again not by me - some moron without insurance..argh :/ )
1997 Lincoln Mark 8 (more wifes car, it was nice though)
2000 F150 5.4L V8 Xcab 4x4 type 3 towing package.
(I also owned a 97 Eclipse GSX - WORST CAR EVER - and the wife had something else, i forget at this second) Wife currently has a Maxima SE - nice car, love it.

I want my next car to be either a 350Z or an HD edition F150 4door w/ supercharger :D

My wife when I met her in 1995 had a silver Mustang GT, so we had two GT's at the time. Then we moved on to Lightnings and Boss. We switched all the time who was driving what :D

I think if you take care of your cars and keep routine maintenance, you won't have any problems unless it's something recalled based (problematic components).

why is everyone down on ford?

as i recall when they have the what do you drive threads, the majority have owned domestics and loved them.

It is funny to see that a year ago everyone was raving about volkswagons and audis and how they were the best thing since sliced bread...this year everyone is saying how horrible they are....

Boss Shinobi? What exactly is that supposed to be? Ford never made something like that? Was this an aftermarket manufacturer or dealer that sold a package? What were the mods?

I HATE Ford with a passion, and NEVER will I EVER buy a car by them again.

I However LOVE my 1995 Mercury Mystique. It has DEFINITELY had it's share of problems, AND it has been in a few wrecks, but there were some major engineering/design flaws with them.

There was a RECALL, that they NEVER sent me in the email. I'm soo positive about this, because me/my dad would always look at it, and get it worked on. Anyways, my wiring harnesses went bad a few months ago. And this car is old, with 124,000 miles at the time. I go get it fixed from a place, and it's costing me $1200. So I look online, and see that it was a recall with FORD. BUT the recall ended @ 100,000 miles. So, I took it to the dealer, he said he can't do anything. I CALL Ford Customer Service....they tell me to blow myself. (Well....not really.) They said that if I EVER took my car to the dealer before it hit 100,000....the dealer should have notified me. But they didn't! I NEVER got the recall letter!

I'm NOT mad at the flaw, I mean it's a design issue...and these things definitely can happen. And it's hard to predict what effects the design of a car will have years after it's made. I'm MAD cuz Ford screwed me, and I had to pay that much for my car to get fixed. (I eventually had it fixed under the table AT a FORD dealer by the Head Tech of the Department. About 600 bux after everything.)

I will never buy FORD again. And for you people that tell me I'm stupid, just think if Best Buy screwed you over....you wouldn't go back to them, would you?

Henry Ford was a very smart man
He put four wheels on an old tin can
He put in a spark plug
He put in a fan
He cranked her up, and the damn thing ran

Not sure if you ever remember but back in 95 Coletti made the Boss 429 - a '94 Cobra with a 429 SVO block turned into a 9.9L 670hp monster. Larry did some of the work on it. Since the 429 would never see the light of day he decided to offer an upgraded package on GTs and such. I didn't know it was 390hp (the article I have in front of me says 275-285)

Boss Shinoda, sorry I was typing fast and didn't realize the typo. It's an Aftermarket Tuner like Saleen and Kenny Bell.

Shinoda Pictures

Ours was Red and Black, but was not the 429. It was a 4.6 w/ a Vortect S trim supercharger. It had pullies, side exhaust and skirts, headers, sticker and wheel package. Had the standard hood, not the Type R Cobra raised hood. I've got pictures of it totaled somewhere I should scan. I loved that car.

The Boss only had a few engine upgrades, but the guy I purchased it from had installed a vortect S trim SC and a set of pullies (which was good for 100hp, hence the 390hp). Stock I think it only had headers, exhaust, fuel upgrades.

Sounds like the dealer screwed you. Were you the original owner of the car?

How many recalls is that focus up to now? You have to skimp somewhere to make that kind of profit when you're Ford. ;)

No I had the bright red Shinoda in the 429 Shinoda Pictured here. Only I didnt have the Cobra hood or front fog lamps. It had the stock GT look on the front end. I will find some pictures when I get back and scan them. I got pictures of that and my L infront of my house.
