In a murder trial featuring evidence of Google searches, jurors late Tuesday found former computer consultant Robert Petrick guilty of first-degree murder in the killing of his wife. He will serve a life sentence without possibility of parole. Prosecutors hadn't sought the death penalty.

Petrick, who represented himself during the North Carolina trial, is expected to appeal and has requested a court appointed lawyer. Jurors rejected Petrick's attempts to convince them that Google searches for the words "neck," "snap," "break," and "hold," uncovered on his hard drive, were done by another user.

While this guys search history was obtianed directly from his hard drive, why would anyone save their search histories on Googles servers if they might wind up in a civil or ciminal trial? One might think, "Well, Im not up to anything so why would I be worried?" When your accused of something you didnt do and someone is grasping at anything to prove you did, a search history just might bolster their case, even if you were harmlessly searching for something odd.

Hmm...the only reason i started saving my search results was all the threads here trying to compare the size of search history in attempts to flex the ol' e-penis. Since my wife has been getting on my nerves lately, maybe I better stop saving the search history while I plot my course of action....

Youve got to look just a tad beyond murder trials. Im also talking CIVIL TRIALS where it doesnt take a unanimous jury to put you in the poor house.

Meh, if someone looks at my goggle searches they might think I'm a terrorist or something. I look up how to make bombs, chemical weapons, explosives, timers, petty much everything that a good ol terrorist would want. Not to mention I like nuclear power, so I search about nuclear power plants alot. Clearly I am a terrorist plotting to set off a bomb inside a nuclear power plant right?

But anywhays, I'm not worried, if you don't do anything wrong then you have nothing to fear (except of course being embarrassed in court when they read out the 20 pages of pr0n searches ).

My searches of actress names on Google Image search should be okay as long as they don't realize SAFE SEARCH is off....
